This hotel just confirms how flaky the star rating system for hotels is. I agree with BettyBB29. Do not even contemplate staying here without an offer (we had £79b&b + parking), and even then check out the premier inn if you want this price bracket. Perhaps if you pay more you get a better room - if so, this should be clearer on the web site. Receptionists were mixed and more inclined to try and 'catch you out' than help. Long grubby corridors, uninspiring room/suite and phone did not work, so they missed out on room service, though the room wasn't somewhere we wanted to spend a long time. We ate in the town centre. Breakfast room was OK - it has had some investment. Would not recommend for a romantic break. Reading some other reviews, I wonder if we went to the same place. I clearly need to save up and spend more next time I need a UK hotel.

The hotel is ideally located - especially for the RSC theatre. The staff are pleasant and helpful - bedrooms are simply furnished but very comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice - something for everyone. In the evening we used the on site Bear Pub - this had a good selection of wine and beers and a good atmosphere. Will definately use this hotel again.

I first visited the Swans Nest as a small child, and have been back from time to time since. As an establishment it has had its ups and downs over the years, but I have always loved the riverside situation and the slightly old fashioned feeling that it has, despite the large modern bedroom extension. This time our experience was a good one.

Our room was not huge, but very clean and comfortable. Looking over an inner garden it was also very quiet. Breakfast was first rate on both mornings and waiting staff helpful and friendly.

Robert on reception was very welcoming and efficient.

The car park is a great plus. It is possible to walk everywhere in Stratford from the hotel and it is also adjacent to some lovely walks along the river into open countryside. No reason to use the car at all!

The only slight reservation is that the bar at the front of the hotel has been turned into a quite noisy and popular sports bar. This did not bother us particularly but might be of concern to others who would like to enjoy a quiet rather than raucous drink on the premises. The bar is close to the reception desk and to the only lounge area and I expect that this could be troublesome at times

This was our second visit to the Swan's Nest hotel which is located by the riverside. Nice room overlooking the river - simply furnished but very comfortable. Stratford is such a lovely place with so much to do and see and this hotel is perfectly located with everything just a short walk away. Staff are pleasant and helpful. A couple of small negatives - its worth noting that they have just introduced a charge to their car park which we felt was a bit unnecessary - we have a dislike of these penny pinching "extras". Breakfast is really really nice but its a bit on the slow side and the food on our second morning was cold which was a shame.
