“Wine & Dine February break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We have stayed at this hotel before and it never disappoints. It is centrally located, with free parking if you are a resident, a bonus. If you stay at the Premier Inn the car park is away from the building and there is a charge, so it is worth factoring the price of car parking before making your visit.

We usually request a room in the older part of the building as it has character. If you stay on the top floor the staircase is steep and there is no lift. Rooms at the front also have the charm of the church clock striking on the hour, although this ceases through the dark hours!

A number of reviews have stated that on a "deal" rate you do pay extra if you have a full breakfast or say choose 3 course meal. You can work this out for yourself or decline the full breakfast. The staff did not say this when asking if you would like a cooked breakfast, they assume you know.

The open fire was lit just outside the restaurant and it is lovely to get the high seats there and sip a brandy to thaw out after a walk around town. We also appreciate the pre-theatre dinner deal whereby you choose your meal in advance and if it includes a dessert you have the latter on returning from the theatre.

Our room was warm, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was cold as there was no radiator in it and being tiled it adds to the chill factor particuarly during a cold spell. We left the bathroom door open and put the shower on for a few minutes before using. Room 313 is above the bar area and you do get the noise filtering into this room during the evening, but that is part of the experience being situated in the Tudor part of the complex.

We will return again later in the year.

Room Tip: Room 313 and 314 overlook the gardens at the back of the hotel - you can't hear the clock striki...

“Winter Warmer Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Just enjoyed a 'Winter Warmer Weekend' at the Falcon. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, didn't take long to get booked in, even though there was a queue when we arrived. Restaurant staff also friendly and helpful, food really good. Disappointment here was that the Winter Warmer deal stated 'three course evening meal' included, but in fact there was a £25 limit to that, which didn't cover three courses, so it meant spending a bit more than originally planned. Bedrooms were clean and warm. In fact whole hotel look and felt clean, though public areas like reception area and lounges were cold. Admittedly it was a very cold weekend, but a couple of convector heaters and no radiators in the 'Scholars Room' lounge was not very welcoming. Log fire remained unlit. However, would definitely return.

“short break in Stratford”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I booked a deal for two nights for my boyfriend and I. After reading the reviews on Trip advisor, requested a room in the tudor part. The room was on the third floor, and very quaint, but with modern facilities. A couple of snags were that the main light stopped working, there was a hole in the bathroom door(not a problem) and and on the second day we were only provided 1 towel (more of a problem!!! )

The hotel is charming, Hannah on reception is lovely, and very accommodating. My partner requested a sewing kit for a loose button, and it was provided quickly.

My parents had booked in for the second day, but due to all the snow, were unable to make it. The hotel cancelled their booking, without charge - much appreciated!

Would return, and would recommend.

Room Tip: Do ask for a tudor room for characteristic charm

On arrival reception staff very friendly and helpful.
Excellent size room, very bright, clean and spacious with tea and coffee.
King size bed was two singles pushed together.
Be careful with evening meal arrangements. We had booked for three course meal. The menu had starter, main and dessert courses but you were only allowed to go to a maximum of £25.
Therefore if you wanted the full three courses you had to pay extra. This was not mentioned on our booking arrangements.
The food was very well presented and good quality, although not a great deal of choice. If you have a very large appitite you would be struggling with the small haute cusine portions.
Apart from two restaurant staff (my apologies for fogetting their names but one gent was French the other gent Polish) they appeared as if it was too much trouble to look after you. The delivery of the meal was very slow, but that did not bother us.
On both evenings nobody asked us if the meal was OK or could they do anything for us. In fact whist we were waiting for our main course dishes to be cleared away they were more content laying the tables for breakfast.
It snowed whilst we were there so the lovely log fires were very welcome.
I don't know if this is the norm but on each morning the lift was out of order for the period around breakfast, so if you have trouble being mobile, please ask for a ground floor room.

Room Tip: As mentioned in report ask for ground floor room if you aren't very mobile.

“Great customer service”

I viviited this hotel with my mum back in october. It was a theatre trip for my mums birthday. The hotel staff were very helpful on ways i could make my mums stay more special before we arrived. We had one of the room overlooking the car park as it was a twin room but we didn't spend much time in the room as we were exploring stratford. It was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was lovely. we only had the continental option but it was more than adequate. The hotel is central, very close to the theatres and had free parking when we went.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the car park are quiet.
