“2nd visit -- But was up for sale”

Our 2nd visit at the end of September 2011 was following a wedding reception at Langley Castle.
Again our room was spotless and the food (B & B) was very good. We went to the Pack Horse Inn, Burnopfield, for our evening meal, it was good and fair value, so much so that we returned there every night.
The owners have separated and are selling up so we cannot guess future quality.
We are putting a comment on Langley Castle hotel as well, poor value for money

“Lovely location - very clean, very good breakfasts”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here to visit nearby Beamish and the Durham coastal region and found the property and location very good.
However, as a previous reviewer mentioned, the bed was very uncomfortable (well used and ready for replacement) also there was nowhere to sit in the room except on the bed - which would account for the edges collapsing. With no chairs to sit in and a very small bathroom and shower area, the room did not live up to our expectation.
On the bright side, the room was pleasantly decorated and the breakfast room and quality of the cooked breakfast was excellent and the owners were welcoming and friendly.

“Very Accomodating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Owners are extremely accomodating, delicious breakfasts, beautiful coffee. I stayed in the Garden Room - twin bedded, didnt find the beds particularly comfortable so had to double up my duvet! (could feel the springs!) but quality of room/bedding/towels was very good. My parents stayed in the Fellside which they rated highly. Stayed here a few years ago, and was very nice then, lovely setting and beautiful garden room come conservatory. Shame the owners are leaving.

“Great little B&B that I would happily stay at again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011 via mobile

We stayed at this B&B for one night only and really enjoyed our stay. It is a way out of Newcastle, which was not a problem for us. The rooms were clean and well appointed and the owners friendly and hospitable.

“Loved it - friendly and peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

This a lovely guest house out in the country, so nice and peaceful, but near enough to Newcastle / Gateshead for those who like the bright lights. Our experience was good right from the start. I had booked on line and forgotten to specify a ground floor room - our room was changed to ground floor immediately. The rooms were beautifully decorated and well appointed, with really comfy beds. There is a guests' lounge, which is becoming a rarity nowadays. The food was excellent and the service at breakfast attentive without being intrusive. We were recommended a local pub for dinner - it, too, was good.
