“VERY VERY Noisy!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

Due to its excellent location, this apartment is very very noisy. I've stayed many times at many hotels in the middle of the city but have never experience such noisy environment. Perhaps the other hotels have double glazing. In addition, it was summer when we stayed there and there is no air conditioning and the apartment is very stuffy, so, we had to leave the windows open for some air.

The shower mixer also does not work and only has boiling hot water, so, we had to take bath everyday!

There is no lift from the ground floor, so, be ready to carry your luggage up the stairs to Level 1.

Cleaning does not exist while you stay there. When you request for your room to be made, they simply empty the garbage bin and just over 4 nights, our apartment/bathroom is already very dirty and dusty.

I'm pleased the location was good, it certainly is the best as far as we are concerned. The windows are indeed double glazed and do block out most of the noise (Though I understand 404 had a broken lock last week)

When the windows are unlocked the noise does increase massively being city central. We recently have had the showers replaced and again 404 does seem to have a very difficult dial- I've ordered a replacement for this. I am sorry for this inconveinience. There are no issues raised in the maintainance or complaints book as we would have certainly moved you to another apartment, sometimes equipment fails- when we get to know about it we will always try to repair or move guests.

It is correct that there is no lift from the street into reception and there is no air conditioning. Servicing of the apartments is done every four days to include bins, towels bed linen changes and toiletries refresh as well as a full clean. Towels and basic service are always provided upon request though. (we always change and clean apartments between every guest departure)

One thing I have taken from this is that we probably need to clarify the level of service so guests do know what to expect. If you could let me know what apartment you stayed in I will personally check the points mentioned.

Kind regards.

“Perfect Apartment for weekend away in Newcastle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

Stayed in the City Aparthotel with a friend for a weekend in Newcastle, bit of shopping and relaxing and to catch up with some friends in the area. Hotel has a great location in the centre of town, so great access to all the shops, and not a long journey to get back and changed and head out for the evening. Reception team were v helpful in their recommends for the area. We booked a 2 bed apartment which was HUGE ( both bedrooms!), and it was great to be able to relax in a big lounge and make a cuppa when we wanted. Though we were in the city centre, it was very quiet and unless I looked out of the window I didn't remember that we were on the main shopping street. The reception area and corridors were being renovated the weekend we stayed, but the work did not affect our stay and the management team were very hospitable and accomodating to all the guests about the works being undertaken (I understand the hotel has a new management and there have been renovating it all - we stayed in a newly renovated room and it was lovely). If I come back to Newcastle I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay, The refurbishment of the windows have made an enormous difference to the 'city buzz' even though its a pedestrianised street. Im also pleased you approve of the new decor and that these works did not affect you, Thank you for your review. Paul D Short, Head of Property.

“professional and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

we managed to get 2 rooms at late notice, we arrived from manchester after driving and stuck on the A1 due to traffic. I was glad to get to my room, I half expected to be pretty awful, but to my surprise, it was clean, bright and a breath of fresh air and very comfortable. Can not remember a better nights sleep!

location was terrific, at the heart of the city centre, with everything nearby, and our meeting within walking distance.

Both my colleague and myself said we would come back and stay here again, for both pleasure and for business

“Perfect position great apartments!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

I recently stayed at the Aparthotel Northumberland Street with clients from overseas who were particularly impressed by the friendly and efficient service we received during our stay. The staff couldnt do enough for us even helping book restaurants during our stay. The apartments themselves are luxuriously appointed offering a home away from home, highly
recommend staying here!

“What a phenomenal stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

I think this hotel has to take credit for the most amazing turnaround. I understand that the ownership has recently changed and it certainly shows in terms of the first-class experience I had on my recent trip to Newcastle. It went beyond impressive and so really hats off to the management team and to all who made my stay so memorable.

The clients whom I invited on the trip were so impressed that they placed a huge order with us and as a result we will have our best ever year of trading.

Thank you!

I am absolutely delighted! The ownership changed in Mid April and we have been working on windows, water heating, decor and security among many other things. It is hard work but I am pleased this has been noticed. Thank You!
