“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2008

Good point: cheap (and I didn't expect much because of that)
Bad points: cleanliness (shower covered in hair that staff agreed was disgusting but was still the same 24 hours later - self-clean toilets that were still dirty - room carpets not vacuumed - crisp packets and dirt in halls ) But sheets and towels were fine. Noisy - it's a stag/hen group 'home'. Poor maintenance - most shower lights were out, again nothing changed in 24 hours. Parking - limited, we had to use neighbouring Novotel

Not somewhere to stay unless cost is the only consideration.

“For a few nights no problem!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2008

Clean room, WC is a bit strange - the first one was out of order, the second one had this self-cleaning system, so the floor was all wet... you were never sure in what you were wading in. For a few nights it is no problem, reception open 24 hrs. However, I did not try out the shower. Quite a walk from the next Metro station, Kingston Park. Not easy to find from there, use a detailed road map and follow the signs "Formule 1", its a former Formule 1 hostel. There is no breakfast, so bring something with you, 10 mins walk to a 24 hrs Tesco, next to the Metro station.

“Basic but free Internet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2008

I wasnt expecting much seeing as its £30 a night. And i wasnt surprised. Room was basic. Just to warn you, showers and toilets are shared - i hadnt spotted this before booking. Hotel is a £10 taxi away from town, but next door to a Toby Carvery, handy to wait in!

Room has double bed with bunk over. Small tv. And the redeeming feature is free wireless Internet (within reason).

Free car parking

Problems were that the corridors stank of cigarettes. Our lights didnt work the 2nd night. Fire alarm went off at stupid o'clock. I didnt like the toilets - they were 'self cleaning' so every time you went to the toilet they were soaking wet - floor and seat! i was never sure what i was wading in.

Defintely only stay in if youre going out to get drunk, sober and you may get quite depressed!

“Horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2006

I really wasn't expecting much when I booked to stay here for a night out in Newcastle. All rooms are £25 and I thought it would be like a bog standard travelodge. How wrong I was - it made a travelodge seem palatial. The hotel is mostly unstaffed, although a receptionist is available at peak times. All other times you check in by inserting your credit card into the machine. No keys are given, just a code to enter the room, pretty straightforward. However, the rooms are tiny, just enough space for a thin double bed, single bunk and a sink. The room we had was shabby, dirty and I was bitten all night by bed bugs. There are no ensuite facilities, just these strange plastic showers and basins, not a nice experience to use. Overall would pay the little extra for the travelodge luxury!
