“Nothing spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The location is great, just minutes from the railway station. The check in was smooth, and the receptionist put us in a higher floor saying the lower floor rooms are usually for guests on stag/hen dos, so I thought that was a considerate gesture. The hotel is a typical three-star modern hotel, and for the price we paid, which included a dinner and breakfast for two, for less than 70 pounds (from Expedia), I think it was a very good deal.

“Clean modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed as a group of 6 males in 2 rooms at £129 per room so it wasn't cheap. Room was clean and modern but we had to ask for extra towels as they only put 1 towel in each room. The location is a few minutes walk to the train station and centre of town. I didnt spend much time at the hotel and when we got back to the hotel at gone 4am there was still groups hanging around the front and by reception. There is security on the door which only allows in guests. Once in the room there was no noise but that maybe down to not having rowdy neighbours or they were asleep but could see there is the potential for noise. We was woken by road works first thing on a Sunday morning which was annoying but that's not the hotels fault. Overall it's a decent hotel but I would be slightly concerned if I was a young family with the large amounts of stag/hen parties.

“Nice Freindly Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at the hotel ahead of a business meeting near by the next day. The hotel is in a good location to get into the clubs - the local clubs are gay clubs, however you can easily walk into town for other bars and resteraunts.

Everyone in the hotel and around was very friendly.

The room was very clean and comfortable. It was a standard room, but had all i needed for an overnight stay.

The buffet full breakfast was very nice and you can eat as much as you like to set you up for the day.

“Positive experience in every way.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Despite the inevitable stag and hen parties that were in the hotel on the Friday night that I stayed there, the staff were on the ball and helpful. They raised the issue of the noise on arrival and explained that as a result they had put me in a room on the top floor. There was no problem with noise on the 7th floor, even though as I came through reception at 3am the parties were still in full swing.

The room was smart, neat, tidy and clean. Everything worked and was easy to use. Breakfast was pleasant and quiet in the restaurant.

A good place to stay with helpfull staff. Left on the Saturday morning ready for a day of work.

Room Tip: As high up as possible at the weekend!

“Smokey!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

person found this review helpful

This hotel has a reputation of expecting guests to move to the sister hotel at Gateshead Quays, which was unsurprisingly what had happened to us. We travelled from Bristol as a group of four for a 30th birthday, only to find our room full of cigarrette smoke. When asked to move, we were unhelpfully told that the hotel was full and to go to the other one! The only other option was to pay for an unhealthy, smoke-filled room and sleep with the window open. This was cold and noisy due to the main road, waking us very early. A very unpleasant and uncomfortable stay. Extremely poor quality of customer care from management. A regretable visit!

Room Tip: Specify non smoking. Ask to stay south side away from main road.
