Stayed here on business in early December 2011, chose the location as it was close to my meeting.
Where to start.............?
This is a small hotel and, to be honest, is getting a bit run down. Reception was good and the lady very friendly and helpful. Room was £49 for just myself in a double room which, at first glance is reasonable value but I have stayed in many better places for this price and there is a lot of competition in this area with Whitley Bay just up the road.
The room was a reasonable size with a bathroom and a double bed but the carpet was a bit "sticky" and seemed old. The bed was spotlessly clean however and smelt fresh with good pillows and a nice quilt. The decor was tired and the biggest problem was the paper thin walls, the lads next door weren't particularly noisy but were watching TV after having had a few beers (not drunk, just happy) and I could hear every word and laugh until about 11:30. Having been on the road since 5am, not good.
The bathroom was grubby with mould on the sealant and, again, old tired decor but the shower was fine with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was just continental so I didn't bother and I did not have dinner either so can't comment on the food.
Overall, below average and not prticularly good value for money, I would expect to pay around £35/night for a place like this and I cannot recomment it and will not return, planty of other choices in the area which will offer better for the money.
