My wife recently bid for a nights stay at the New Northumbria Hotel in Jesmond at a charity function and won it. We used the voucher two weeks ago and I have to say how impressed I was at the standard of the hotel from reception right through to the rooms absolutely lovely. The rooms have just been upgraded to a very high standard and I have to say I have stayed in 4 star hotels that were not this quality. Well done to the staff on recpetion who were marvelous you made our stay very welcoming and we really enjoyed it. Excellent I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Newcastle.

I stayed here January 2012 for a long weekend, in a recently refurbished room 210. The Reception, Corridors and Bedroom were very modern, warm, welcoming and clean. Our room was quite large and the bed was so comfy!

The Hotel also has 2 restaurants and one bar which is part of it which means you can order room service if you are too lazy to venture out which is what we did on our first night.

I found the reception staff extremely warm, welcoming and helpful going out of their way to provide us with information on local attractions and how to get there, calling us Taxi's and ordering our room service for us.

I am definately coming back here again! The breakfast is great too with a selections of pastries, fruit, cereal, cold meat and cooked breakfasts! Great value for money recommend to anyone looking for a great city break in Newcastle!

Although staying in a non refurbed room, the standard was very good for the tariff. The bathroom had been upgraded and was spotless. Reception and waiting staff were excellent and the included breakfast (in our tariff) was really good; served hot and not at all greasy.A good all round 3* hotel.

Stayed at the hotel recently. We were given a newly refurbished room, the hotel is currently being refurbished. Room 212 - lovely room, spacious, clean and nice furnishings. Couple of minor points; no plug for the bath and wardrobe space limited. Also you could hear the lift but this is being relocated in a different area of the hotel as it is currently in the centre.

What really made our stay special was the receptionist, Faye, nothing was too much trouble, she was helpful with a wealth of information and portrays an excellent front of house image for the hotel. A definately asset!

We ate in Scallinis, food was great and very reasonably priced.

We will definately be staying at the hotel again when picking our son up from university.
