“Really good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2010

Bar and reception area were cosy and staff friendly and very helpful. We needed a pair of scissors so we phoned reception. By the time we went downstairs the scissors were there. They told us if we needed a taxi between 5-7pm it was better to order. Nothing was a problem to them. Landing carpet looked tired but the room carpets were fine.
Spargo's (Italian restaurant) was joined to the hotel. We had our evening meal there. Average price but first class food.We ate at 5.30pm (Just when restaurant opened). All food was very fresh and first class service. Breakfast was included. Full English, kippers, eggs on toast, really whatever you wanted. All cooked fresh.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will stay here again on our next visit to Newcastle.

“excellent value budget hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

no complaints at all. staff were very pleasant and quite helpful .

we arrived in Newcastle about 10:30 am we were able to leave our bags at the hotel and go off for the day and book in later

our room [number4- see photo was very nice- spacious, clean and tiidy and obviously fairly recently revovated - corridors were a bit tired looking

Breakfast included comprised of
various cereals, fruit juice, grapefruit segments or prunes.
porridge
cooked breakfast or kippers,
toast , tea and coffee

Breakfast coffee was a bit weak for our tastes but there was a nice espresso cafe a few minutes walk down the road. Breakfast was served in the nextdoor restaurant and was quite tasty -ingredients were decent quality

we would definitely stay here again if in the area

we stayed mideweek -we heard no noise despite us leaving all 3 windows open all night and overlooking street

the taxi from the main train station to hotel was about 6pounds and taxi from hotel to airport was 11.50 pounds

“Brilliant hotel in a lovely location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I can't fault it at all! This time I shared a twin room with my best friend and another friend stayed in a single room. The rooms are very clean, bathroom is very modern and there is Freeview TV and tea and coffee facilities in each room along with towels, soap etc.

I can't comment on the bar facilities at this hotel as we were attending a function in the city centre, but the breakfast is good with a selection of cereals and juices, and a cooked breakfast.

I was awoken by a female party returning to their hotels in the early hours after a night out, so bear this in mind when choosing this hotel

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Jesmond Metro station, when you are on the Metro, its only 3 stops away from the Central Station. There isn't parking on site as such, but there is parking in nearby side streets, but check that you are not parking in permit only areas.

We plan to stay here again this time next year as its so good!

“19 LADS - NO HASSLE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2009

Our football team basically invaded this hotel for 2 nights at the end of May and we had a a ball. So please, bear in mind, I'm rating this hotel 5 out of 5 for a drinking excursion - perfect for what we needed.
The Hotel is basic but clean.
Has a small bar which just didn't shut and very friendly staff up for a bit of banter - even when serving drinks at 6:30am.
Some of us still had a pint in our hands when going for breakfast, this may have been a problem if there were anyone else to offend, but we seemed to have the place to ourselves, except for 2 Aussie lads, who ( in an amazing coincidence ) had actually been quite friendly with 2 of our players a few years back when they were travelling in Oz. . Breakfast was decent, no buffet, just ask for what you want and the girl serving us was very accomodating, especially considering she had been pouring us drinks for around 4 hours in the run up.
Jesmond is a smashing area with tons of pubs within walking distance and a taxi into town was pretty cheap too.
I wouldn't recommend this for a family or couple to be honest, but for a weekend away with the boys, it was ideal.
If any evidence were required, 3 of our team are going back there for their stag parties during the coming year.

“Suited us fine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2009

My mother and I stayed here for two nights in early November for family visit. The hotel kindly provided us with fruit teas in the bedroom as requested and also upgraded us for free to a family room from twin. The room was comfortable and had all the necessary things. They also provided soya milk for our breakfasts as requested, and provided soya yoghurts as well.
