“Absolute Disgrace!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I have seen kennels that have better conditions than the rooms in this “Hotel”
Room 1 – The window would not close or lock, bed sheets were torn and had hair on them
Room 2 – Mould on the wall, bed legs broke, footprints on the ceiling
They should have a doormat at the reception to wipe your feet on the way out
Avoid this place at all costs a hostel is kept cleaner and has better facilities than this place

Room Tip: A different hotel

“Great travelodge, far better than negative reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

What to expect from a travelodge: clean room, bed, tv, kettle and tea/coffee, clean wc, friendly staff and central location. Despite the other reviews found this travelodge to be perfect, exactly what you expect from it and as good as any other travelodge. Certainly a far, far cry from claims of the worst travelodge in Britain as far as I can tell.
Room was great, comfy bed, clean fresh sheets and towels and what's more on a Saturday night with hen party groups in attendance we slept perfectly, not a peep from anyone and perfectly comfortable. Like others have said despite the groups of hen and stag nights there was no adverse effect on our stay.

Room Tip: We got room 61 which was at the very end of the corridor on the 1st floor and very quiet.

“Ok for what we wanted”

Booked last minute. We were going to see our Son at the 'Live Theatre' and didn't want a 2 hour drive home due to the weather being bad. Picked the Travelodge as you could see the theatre from the hotel. Was a little worried due to some of the reviews.
I telephoned the hotel and asked if they had a quiet room. They had a quiet part of the hotel, which they kept groups away from, so they booked us into room 1.
On arrival we parked in the car park £5 for 24 hours. It's not owned by Travelodge. ( make sure you put the ticket on the dash board, we got a £25 fine! As they didn't look in the window, so I am disputing it!) We went to check in and there were quite a few noisy single sex groups in the foyer. It looks basic, and could do with an upgrade. I expect most people get a good deal if they booked early. We paid the full price of £75 with breakfast. Our room was quite a walk away, but that didn't matter as long as it was quiet! The room it's self was a good size, no bath tub only shower. Nothing plush, but clean. It was not a place you would go to spend a lot of time in your room.
When we arrived back from the theatre about 12.30 we ordered a pizza and wedges. Bad idea! We took it back to our room and it wasn't cooked properly. We slept very well, no noise, we did have ear plugs but I never travel without them. Bed was comfy, room was very warm, but you can operate the heating.
We went down to breakfast, it was nothing fancy, could have been more organised with cups etc, but it was busy. The cooked breakfast which you helped yourself to was very well cooked, and hot.
The manager was stood out in the foyer and in passing he asked us if everything had been ok. I told him about the pizza the night before and he promptly gave us our money back. All the staff were friendly.
I would stay again for a quick stop off, but not for a cosy weekend away.

Room Tip: Phone ahead if you want a quiet room.

“Not bad at all considering all the negative reviews!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed at the Travelodge Newcastle Central in February; cannot complain considering all of the negative reviews - comfortable bed, spacious room, decent shower, tea & coffee facilities etc. On arrival I had my doubts with all of the usual stag and hen parties loitering around but it never really affected our stay. Hotel is in a great location for the pubs, clubs and restaurants of Newcastle Quayside - we booked a table at Azzuri which is quite literally next door to the hotel and would highly recommend it. Would say from experience that for a budget hotel Premier Inn is probably better but enjoyed our stay at Travelodge despite the reviews.

Room Tip: Possibly ask for a quieter part of the hotel if possible as the hotel does have its fair share of st...

“Not the best, but adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed here for one night, and although the hotel wasn't brilliant, it was adequate. The room hadn't been cleaned properly, and the bin wasn't emptied from the previous guest. However the bathroom was clean and the bed had been made up - the bed was comfortable too. I'd stay again if I was on a budget, but otherwise pay a bit more for somewhere else.
