Booked last minute. We were going to see our Son at the 'Live Theatre' and didn't want a 2 hour drive home due to the weather being bad. Picked the Travelodge as you could see the theatre from the hotel. Was a little worried due to some of the reviews.
I telephoned the hotel and asked if they had a quiet room. They had a quiet part of the hotel, which they kept groups away from, so they booked us into room 1.
On arrival we parked in the car park £5 for 24 hours. It's not owned by Travelodge. ( make sure you put the ticket on the dash board, we got a £25 fine! As they didn't look in the window, so I am disputing it!) We went to check in and there were quite a few noisy single sex groups in the foyer. It looks basic, and could do with an upgrade. I expect most people get a good deal if they booked early. We paid the full price of £75 with breakfast. Our room was quite a walk away, but that didn't matter as long as it was quiet! The room it's self was a good size, no bath tub only shower. Nothing plush, but clean. It was not a place you would go to spend a lot of time in your room.
When we arrived back from the theatre about 12.30 we ordered a pizza and wedges. Bad idea! We took it back to our room and it wasn't cooked properly. We slept very well, no noise, we did have ear plugs but I never travel without them. Bed was comfy, room was very warm, but you can operate the heating.
We went down to breakfast, it was nothing fancy, could have been more organised with cups etc, but it was busy. The cooked breakfast which you helped yourself to was very well cooked, and hot.
The manager was stood out in the foyer and in passing he asked us if everything had been ok. I told him about the pizza the night before and he promptly gave us our money back. All the staff were friendly.
I would stay again for a quick stop off, but not for a cosy weekend away.
Room Tip: Phone ahead if you want a quiet room.
