“Excellent location, lovely hotel with good rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed here for a long weekend and must say that it a stunning hotel. It feels really fancy when you arrive as there are big crystal chandeliers over the massive oak staircases leading up to the rooms! The staff were friendly and helpful too.

The room we stayed in was really modern and looked like it had recently been refurbished, which was great. It had a comfy double bed, flat screen tv, fridge, safe and a large shower and bathroom. It had tea and coffee facilities too.

Breakfast was buffet style and was good.

We stayed at the rear of the hotel, so I cannot comment on the noise from the front of the hotel, which is admittedly over a bar/nightclub.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try get a room at the back (not street side) of the hotel as it can be quite noisy over a friday or...

“wonderful overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My two friends and i recently went to see Strictly Come Dancing at Newcastle arena, fantastic show by the way.We stayed at the Station Hotel, well what a lovely welcome we got Richard on the desk and lovely Phil who took our luggage to the room(as we are ladies of a certain age)it was woderful, room fantastic !Three double beds!!!!! ,free tea and coffee in the room, free orange juice and Kit Kats also bottles of water in the fridge .absolute value for money and would recommend.Decided to have breakfast in the morning ,as it was very reasonably priced and could not fault that either, then on leaving Michelle the manager remembered us on check in ,had a chat which i thought was lovely she could have easily gone straight to her office, but went out of her way to say goodbye.

“Average, noisy and in need of work”

I have stayed in this hotel several times and it can't be that bad as I keep going back.

On a plus the hotel building is lovely with beautiful chandeliers and staircases, the breakfast is very good and the gym is a plus.

On a negative, the hotel rooms are very noisy. Any rooms facing the front of the hotel are plagued by noise from partygoers until about 3:30am and rooms to the rear of the hotel have the train station announcer from 6:30am. All in all, I prefer the train station announcer.
In addition to this, some of the rooms are very small with very dirty, old beds.

“Great value and location for a short visit to Newcastle”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Right next to the station, this hotel is clearly an aging classic hotel with grand staircases and a majestic history.

Although not the top class hotel it once was, iris still in excellent condition and the service and room was excellent (though a touch cold).

Perfect for my one night stay on a bsiness trip.

“Pleasant Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Hotel is fine and seems to have been done up recently. The hotel back right onto the station so it is great being so close for rail travellers. The down side is that if your room is at the back of the hotel you will get the noise from the station from early in the morning until late at night. Breakfast is very standard. Hotel is close to the city centre just 5 minutes walk away. Reception is great at this hotel with very little waiting time in spite of how busy they were.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back will have the noise from the station.
