I stayed for night at this hotel on January 25th. Hotels do not normally welcome rugby teams, but the Novotel were pleased to see 22 15 year old players, coaches and supporters. We had a competitive group rate for our rooms, and breakfast was included [and was excellent]. The rooms were basic, but clean and tidy.

The attitude of the staff was excellent, they were endlessly patient as a succession of players locked themselves out of their rooms, and they were happy to keep the bar open until 1.00 a.m for us. My only gripe would be the ridiculous cost of 24 hours internet access, which was £16.95. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We've never stayed in a Novotel, so I wasn't sure what to expect - we've stayed in ibis hotels, which are the cheaper brand of the chain, so it was nice to see that all of the good parts were maintained with extras added.

We used a deal from booking.com, which turned out to be great value! When we arrived at our room, I was very surprised with the amount of space ... a large double (or larger?) bed, a large sofa bed, with everything you need and expect. The bathroom and the toilet were seperate, which was quite nice. And the bath/shower worked really well ... nice pressure from the shower, and plenty of space inside the shower - even though it was over a bath! Really comfortable room, all in all.

We had to pay £5 for parking for the night, which wasn't bad as we'd already received quite a good deal. I think I would have been annoyed paying for parking on top of the usual room rate - as surely it's expected you'd need to park? It took us a while to work out the entrance/exit barriers (you'll need a ticket from reception to get out if you're coming back) but once that was done, no problem.

It's worth mentioning, as other people have, that the hotel isn't actually at Newcastle Airport - but a short distance away. Perfect distance to avoid the usual noise, but also really well located for the city centre (10min drive), Metro Centre (10-15mins) and just off the A1 which works out perfectly!

We stayed here for the Great North Run last year. The location is excellent for those flying in.The breakfast was great. As always the only rather annoying thing is the price hike because of the event. But this seems to be the norm everywhere! The guy's on the shuttle service are extremely friendly and helpful.
