Myself and my boyfriend stayed here in January, as we drove up to the hotel we were quite impressed by the front it looks like a lovely old country house, the rear and entrance of the hotel is very different! the reception area is decked in a nautical theme but looks as if it has been put together cheaply with up and down confusing stair cases and sailcloth, the carpets were stained and looked like they had not been cleaned for a while, the receptionist was very polite and helpful and check in was quick, we had been allocated "cabin" 230 and cabin just about sums it up, the double room was the size of a postage stamp, the room was fairly clean although some of the wallpaper peeling off in places, the view out of the window was of a strange building at the back of the hotel that looked like a gym/conference centre, there was a bedside unit on one side of the bed and the bathroom door on the other, no storage space whatsoever and the mirror was just propped against the wall, the safe was on the floor underneath a hanging rail as no space for a wardrobe, the tv was a nice flatscreen but a pain in the butt to work with the remote, certain channels had no sound and a lot of black and white fuzzy screens in between each channel. The bathroom was clean but noticed black mould and a few stray hairs in the tiny shower cubicle and you get supplied with a tiny bar of handsoap and a small bottle of shower gel, no shampoo etc so if you have forgotten anything there is a price list in the room and you can ring reception for it. We went down for dinner and were given the choice of bar or restaurant - you can eat the bar menu in the restaurant if you wish so we did this, we were the only guests dining that night, the food and service were very nice and could not be faulted, drinks are quite expensive here though.
Got a reasonable nights sleep but the walls are paper thin and had other guests slamming doors every two bloody minutes or could hear the other guests moving around in the room below and talking. We didnt have breakfast so can't comment on that, overall we did enjoy our stay, the staff are all polite and helpful and we were lucky enough to have got a cheap deal for our stay, I would have been rather disappointed if we had paid full price though as have stayed in other De Vere hotels which have been much nicer
