“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Fantastic setting, very hospitable restaurant with great food and entertainment, professional spa, pleasant hotel - all aspects work quite well together to provide a lovely stay. Only 2 negatives are:-
1. ROOM - that the room was a bit of a let down initially - fairly small and fairly 'normal' for it's 'superior' title. although the VERY comfy bed and a great nights sleep did make up for it!
and
2. BILL - We had a lunch charged to our account which we didn't have in the spa, which I had to query on check out AND I have been charged £39.50 on my Credit Card for something else we don't think we had since we checked out, which two phone calls have been unable to give me an answer as to what I bought, ate or drank?. Am awaiting phone call back.

Room Tip: Supierior Room was average so I wouldn't go for anything lower. Great smellies though!

I stay away in many hotels for business on a regular basis and decided on this hotel for a relaxing break with use of the spa facilities. I booked very last minute - 8pm the night before travelling and called the reception to discuss options for rooms and spa treatments. They looked into my request and called me back within 5 minutes with a discount on the room price and 2 spa treatments for the following day. When I arrived we were upgraded to a superior room without asking which was clean and comfortable. Our rate included dinner and breakfast both of which were superb. I had some worries before coming as I had read some criticising reviews about the food and service, but I can honestly say this was not the case at all. Our waiter Alex attended to our every need and could not have been more helpful. The food at dinner was truly delicious and we picked between the two different menus with no issues at all. Breakfast was cooked to order with a buffet continental selection as well. I was really impressed by the speed of the cooked food coming out, I have experienced many occasions in other hotels where breakfast to order takes a long time and this was not the case here. Tea / coffe was served by the waiter from flasks - I asked if I could have a tea pot and this was no issue at all. We then spent the day using the spa facilities and having our treatments. The service and surroundings in the spa were delightful. A total relaxation which was much needed. For lunch we decided to return to the main dining room although this could have been had in the spa dining area. Jenny served us for lunch and which was delicious and her attention to detail was fabulous. If you are looking for a hotel with beautiful surroundings, attentitive staff and delicious food not to mention the fantastic spa area, then this is certainly worth a visit. I was really surprised all this could be achieved for the price I paid - £178 for 2 people, 2 days in the spa, 1 night including dinner, breakfast and 2 treatments. And if you are a dessert lover, the white chocolate cheesecake was to die for!!! Thank-you for such a lovely time!!!

lovely hotel and helpful staff, however no mobile phone signal on orang or virgin which caused us great distress as travelling with a very sick child and need to be incontact with nurses. also a very disappointed daughter who was looking forward to using the pool but we arrived 5.15 to find children excluded from 5.30 then could not go inpool til afternoon the next day due to child exclusion not a family friendly facility.

Room Tip: you need to request rooms together as they put us a separate ends of hotel! did move us when reque...

Dear Mrs Adele,
Thank you for your comments. I can only apologise for the less positive rules you have encountered. We are a Hotel with Spa therefore it is ratter difficult to please every guests needs reason being for the time restrictions on children swimming times, I have also encountered comments on the fact that we allow children reason being of the time restriction in order to please as many guests as possible.
I sincerely hope you will not discard us on your next trip to Haslemere, we would love to accommodate you and your family again in the best possible way.

Thank you

“Disappointing Dinner & Breakfast and no draught beers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights DBB - dinner on the Friday very disappointing, lacked flavour and my wife's meal was served 15 mins after the other 3 meals and even then the risotto wasn't cooked. The whole situation wall handled poorly by the staff on duty and also by the receptionist on checkout. "I'm getting 2 contradicting stories from 2 different departments" what happened to the guest is always right!!!! Breakfast for this class of hotel is very disappointing - cheap sliced bread and no individual tea pots to name just 2. Some decent quality breads would make such a difference. Great Spa however we won't be returning.

Dear Mr Paul O
I sincerely appreciate that you have taken the time to post your comments and make us aware of some of the faults in our services. I can only hope that the positives that you found at Lythe Hill Hotel and Spa will encourage you not to totally discard us when you are next looking for a weekend away. Mr Paul O, the service you received was not of the normal high standard our guests usually experience at Lythe Hill I can assure you that I have already addressed all the food and beverage issues with our executive chef and I sincerely hope you will give us another opportunity of showing you the hotel in its true colours. Regarding the mobil phone signal we have also recently installed a mobil phone signal booster and we are hoping for far better signal in the future, all for our guest's benefict.

Thank you
