“Great alternative to a traditional hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I stayed here in December during a work trip. This hotel was great! The rooms were neat, clean, and modern, with a safe, fridge, and free wired internet. The bed was comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast that was included in the room price was cooked to order and was delicious! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to stay in or near Guildford!

This little hotel is truly exceptional. Everything perfect - accommodation, comfort, welcome, food and value for money.
I do not usually believe glowing reviews (and have never written one before) but cannot fault the Asperion.

“Small hotel with most of the things you'd expect for a comfy stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

I came to Guildford because of some business meetings. I suppose few truly would come to this quaint English town for protracted business; I was no exception, staying just two nights.

The room I had on the 1st floor was tiny; the shower stall could hardly fit me (I'm fat admittedly) and the room has hardly any extra space for an opened luggage. This is my main qualm about this hotel - size. I peered into the Castle Suite one of the mornings when I was leaving my room and even that suite is not much bigger. I am surprised that being away from central London, the rooms remain this small.

Otherwise, everybody worked like clockwork and efficiency was the catch phrase. From check in to check out, including simple request such as opening up the in-room safe for me because I stupidly could not reopen it after locking, all were done satisfactorily within minutes. Is England always so efficient and nifty too?

The breakfast was adequate, even though it was not like what those 5-star international chains offer in major cities. Importantly, the food this hotel serves is organic, true organic and I must say they are delicious! The chocolates found in your tiny fridge, simply melts in your mouth and the eggs they serve are so fresh you'd think the hens have just laid them (probably it is the case indeed!).

The distance from the (back of the) railway station was fine, a straight-forward 10 minute walk maximum. The location being uphill can be a challenge for some, admittedly but fortunately I am still relatively young (I think!). Guildfor town centre is also just about 15-20 minutes away but there isn't much to see there really except some old town hall-like buildings. The university is not far from the hotel and the Anglican cathedral is further uphill. All in all, the location is perhaps as good as you can get in the hotels in Guildford.

If you aren't too fussy, I would recommend Asperion for a couple of days' stay. It's safe (Guildford seems extremely safe to me) and ultra-clean and most things such as internet, telephones etc which you'd expect from a business hotel work well here. There's however no laundry, but then again, just 1-2 days there really is little need to get any clothes cleaned, I suppose?

“Good basic rooms, very good service.”

My husband and I stayed at The Asperion last weekend. We were pleased to see that there was plenty of parking on site, and our welcome was friendly and helpful. Like some of the other reviewers we felt that the room was somewhat sparse but no worse than staying at a premier inn, where you would not get the friendly service. The shower was great and the bed comfortable. We particularly appreciated that we were given fresh milk on arrival for tea and complementary chocolate was in the fridge!

Breakfast was good and again the service was excellent. We would recommend this hotel but agree that frosted glass on the bottom of the windows that overlook the car park would be an excellent addition.

“Close to Guildford (But up a steep hill)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

I stayed here for a 2 day midweek break in August. To start with I would class this Hotel as more of a Guest house (Which to be fare, is not a bad thing). The staff were the most polite and attentive I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with, so top marks to them.

But I have marked the hotel down on the comfortableness of the bed. I stayed in room 6, a small room in comparison to the Premier Inn I usually stay at, which had the softest bed I have ever tried sleeping on.

Also, google maps shows the position of the hotel in relation to the town centre, but it does not show how steep the hill is, which is easy for walking into the town but may require a short taxi ride for the less able amongst you.

All in all, if you are a single business traveller or someone on a small budget I will be happy to recommend this hotel.
