Visiting from the U.S., I wasn't quite sure what to expect -- after all, privately-owned hotels haven't had the greatest of reputations in the states over the past few decades. It did, however, have good proximity to London as well as roughly equal driving to Dover and Wincanton (both on my itinerary).
I couldn't have been more pleased by what I found. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, and are very happy to address concerns and any questions. My room in the inn proper was quite clean and comfortable and offered one of the best sleeps I've had on holiday in years. Sure, the television has only basic license fair, but who goes on vacation just to watch TV?
Breakfast was delicious and more than adequate for an active day up to a late lunch. The bar itself offers a small but interesting selection of local Surrey draughts at prices not much higher than one expects to pay in the U.S.
The village of Peaslake is quite lovely and quiet -- perfect for a relaxing stay, but also within half an hour of Guildford and an hour driving to London (though I personally recommend taking the extra half-hour and £10 to take the train from Guildford to Waterloo unless you're not actually planning to park anywhere while you're in the city).
Overall, a fantastic stay, and I look forward to visiting again on my next trip to southern England.
