I stay in this hotel for about 6 weeks per year on business trips. The rooms are fine although some are dated which accounts for the rating of 3 points.
We tend to work quite late on these trips and regularly return to the hotel at 10-10.30pm. Therefore it is normally too late to go out to eat. So we regularly end up in the hotel bar lounge area, which is supposed to be an area where you are being waited on at your table and where you can order food until 11pm. Except that the waiting staff go out of their way to ignore you preferring to focus on cleaning and tidying up and preparing the restaurant for the breakfast service. We regularly have to wait 15+ minutes before somebody takes our order and even then we quite often have to actually flag somebody down or ask them to come over. Once we have managed to place an order the next problem is that the kitchen regularly runs out of items on the bar menu (a menu that changes infrequently)...the likelihood that the kitchen has run out of something increases the later you arrive and as this is a fairly generic menu I get the impression that running out = has been put away and will not get out tools or food items again to start cooking now.
As ever there are exceptions and one waitress stands out as being extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful but by and large people make it clear that they resent you for requiring service at that time of day. They are however happy to charge the service charge on everything.
