“Avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

First impression on entering? What have I done!? The dirtiest carpets I have ever seen (running through into breakfast room), a dark reception area and a trek up narrow stairs , over threadbare carpet, with no offer of help with luggage. The room was better and bathroom clean. Sadly the shower didn't work and the hot/cold mix on the bath only ran hot.
I am self employed and spend a lot of time in Travelodge. Can't wait to get back to their basic but less scary offering.

“Do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2009

When you enter the reception you realise you have made a bad mistake. The carpets are awful along the the whole downstairs area (including the area where breakfast is searved)
to be fair the room was not to bad clean bedding, but very noisy at night.
Had I not been so tired and arrived late in the evening I would have walked staight out.
The only plus point was the location.
for £70 you expect at least a clean and pleasant environment

“Completely Horrific - the worst hotel (if you can call it that) I have ever stayed in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2009

What a mistake to book this hotel - but never again. The reception area has to be the most filthy place I have seen. The carpets are badly stained, andfurniture tatty. There is no lift and so had to walk up the filthy stairs and along thin narrow corrdiros which were full of piles of dirty laundry on the floor - you had to be careful you didn't fall over. The staff were miserable. The room was disgusting, dirty stained carpet, dirty windows and the bathroom was shabby. It was so bad we would not risk even eating continental breakfast in the morning for fear we would get food poisoning or something worse.

“Not too bad if you can afford it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

The good: location (on High street, shops, restaurants in five minutes walking), friendly staff
The bad: I got a very small room, Wifi internet only in the small lobby next to reception

“To be avoided”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

I can't believe hotels like this exist in modern town centre high streets. The whole ambience is dirty feeling with sticky manky carpets everywhere, small out of date rooms, stains aplenty, analog tv only. My colleague got an 'upgrade' due to his original rooms toilet overflowing with excrement ! Even the staff seem embarrassed about the place. The owner should be ashamed of himself. I really do wish I had researched this website before allowing my company to book it, but didn't think you could go this much wrong for a city centre £100+ per night hotel. You'd be much better off at the premier inn or travelodge which are both walkable to the town centre anyway. At least those places have high minimum standards. This is an embarassment to Guildford ! I wouldn't stay there again even if you paid me to.
