really lovely hotel and surroundings. the staff were so welcoming and the overall value for money was outstanding

We were attending an event at short notice and decided to find somewhere close for the night before rather than stuck in the M25 morning rush hour traffic. After a quick search we came across this hotel and booked it.
The hotel surrounding is beautiful, with golf facilities and must be popular with golfers. Our bedroom was adequate but the bathroom reminded us of the seventies because of the carpet!
The breakfast was alright. Overall, it served the purpose with what we paid.

Due to a family bereavement we had to make a sudden visit to Surrey and we couldn't have wished for a more pleasant hotel for a short overnight stay. The staff were extremely helpful, even though the reception is not manned after 11.0pm they made alternative arrangements for us to arrive at 11.30pm offered to have sandwiches ready if required and 'up-graded' our room at no extra charge - thank you Megan.
Our room was spotlessly clean, with lovely soft towels in the bathroom and a large 'power shower' .The view from our window next morning was stunning, we only wish we had had more time to explore the grounds. Excellent cooked breakfast - no complaints at all.

Staff:
Cannot fault the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff - they really were excellent in every way.

Golf:
The course was excellent but beware!!! the millpond flat putting practice area gives no clue as to the 1:10 nature of many of the greens - I think there is only one 'nearly flat' one and the rest are about as challenging as it's possible to make greens without needing mountaineering gear.

Food:
Breakfast was pretty mediocre but getting down early might have made it more appealing. That said, the food was excellent in the restaurant and the service really wonderful.

Rooms:
The rooms, the public areas and the building, in its entirety, is old and dated and smells that way too. The whole place is in desperate need of updating, decorating and generally bringing into this century. It's dark, dingy, tired and really if it wasn't for the golf and the fact it was a birthday present weekend away, I'd have left and gone home.

For golfers only really or weddings where location/setting is the most important aspect.
