“Top Value, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Terry the Landlord is a great guy. The pub has lodge accommodation to the side of it and is located opposite the oddly named "Wickham Market" train station. The station is actually in Campsea Ashe (2 miles away from Wickham Market). Location is great for Suffolk market towns of Wickham, Framlingham, Woodbridge, and any other town that is on the Lowestoft to Ipswich train line !!. Beer is great (as you would expect). The breakfast is superb and fills you for the day. No pub food available but plenty of good local restaurants. Clean accessible rooms.

Room Tip: Ask when booking if you want easier access room

“Pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

We really enjoyed our stay, despite the bad weather. The pub is out of the way somewhat, so you have to drive (or get the train - very close) if you want to go visiting anything but it's nice if you don't want hustle and bustle.

It's pub accomodation so don't expect a 4/5 star hotel but we found the rooms to be perfect for our needs - clean and serviceable. Furniture's a bit dated but that meant nothing to us. The showers take a bit of getting used to (we struggled to get a reasonable temperature).

Staff are very down to earth and pleasant and we really enjoyed the food. Again, don't expect lamb medallions with a redcurrant jus as it's curries, lasagne, fish n chips, pies and other lovely pub grub but we found it to be very nice and VERY good value for us londoners.

It's close enough to Woodbridge, Aldborough and Southwold to be a nice base point and we thought the area was very nice. Beer, as you'd expect a few miles from the Adnams brewery was ACE.

All in all, we'd have no hesitation staying there again.

“Absolutely Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2009

Terry and Barbara couldn't have made us more welcome at their pub.
We were given food of the highest standard, as good as any top class chef anywhere. The local ale was very tasty and we certainly endulged in a few pints on each night of our stay.
Our room was very compfortable and was cleaned every day and we were given fresh towels.

Thanks again to both of you

Paul and Greg
