We went to this hotel for afternoon tea, my wife having booked in advance on the recommendation of a friend.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the receptionist, we said we were here for afternoon tea at which point she directed us to the bar seating area saying that someone would be along shortly.
We sat in the bar area and was approached by the bar manager who asked if we would like a drink, we said that we were here for afternoon tea, he then disappeared.
Fifteen minutes later my wife went to the reception desk to ask if we were going to be served, at this point we were directed towards the tables laid up in the area known as Silks Brasserie. We sat down, having first to find a clean table, and waited.
After another five minutes my wife (and I) gave up and left the premises, passing reception on the way out we commented that we had still not been served, the response was "Oh".
We then left.
The level of service we received was appalling, especially as this was a treat for my birthday.

I booked afternoon tea for my husband's birthday, on November 5th, we arrived in plenty of time and was advised by a receptionist to take a seat on the sofas and someone would be with us. We sat and a barman came to ask if we would like a drink, I replied we would wait for tea. We waited 15 minutes for someone, anyone to show us to a table. I went back to the receptionist to complain and she said " oh sorry I thought you had been served, I suppose you could go to a table and wait!". We sat... and waited.....after 10 minutes I had had enough, I was so angry. WE left after advising the same receptionist that we were leaving and she said "oh!"
I complained by email the same day and had a reply the next day apologising profusely for the extremely poor service and, as I said I would comment on Trip Advisor, she said I was more than justified to do so. She offered me another tea for 4 people or dinner for two with wine of their choice.
I was still very angry and waited three days before replying. I accepted their apology and the offer of dinner as it will be my birthday on the 16th December. After two weeks of no reply I complained again and their reason was being unable to get an email to me. I replied that they had my phone number and gave my home address.
To date I have not receive a response.

Had a reasonable stay here, more than adequate, pleasant helpful staff and food wholesome.
Excellent afternoon teas.

Very pleasant overnight stay at this hotel. From the reception to dining room staff all were very helpful. If you are expecting a substantial meal in the restaurant forget it. If want a beautifully presented taste sensation that is what you'll get. Well thought out menu. Room comfortable and very clean.
