we had a stay and a 40th birthday party at the Bull,the hotel is in the old wood look and squeaky floor board and everything off the level,but with the age of this property its wot you would expect and suit's it,breakfast in the mornings were really good and catered for wot you wanted,staff were nice and helpfull.the bar's were busy with a good atmosphere and had parking at the front and back,would recommend this hotel

Stayed just 2 nights at the Bull...excellent 14th century coaching inn, the rooms were very comfortable, and food was excellent.

Visited Bury St Edmonds,Sudbury, Clare, and the unforgettable Lavenham.

My partner telephoned to book a reservation, and we booked the restaurant for 8.30pm and a full English breakfast from 0730.
When we arrived we were informed that there was a wedding party - the restaurant was booked to them, and breakfast was 8-10am.
The room was warm, but the top window would not close, a chunk of a bedside cabinet was left on the bed, and although maintainence was informed, nothing was done.
We ate in the rear restaurant and although it was pleasant, the staff were enbarrassed to inform us of the list of food that they did not have. The starters were good, main and dessert: average.
When my partner called to arrange a breakfast she was taken aback by the response.
The bed was very comfortable, room was clean, noise levels low (wedding finished 11ish), waitress very polite and efficient, bar staff - absent lots,
Had we been informed of the lack of facilities, food, etc... We would not have stayed, which is a shame as we had an amazing meal in 2010.
A below average stay for £180.00 and we have decided not to return.

It was a sad occasion that bought us to The Bull - a gathering of family and friends following a funeral. However, the friendly and helpful service; a cosy private room complete with beams and a roaring fire; a welcoming drink of mulled cider and a well presented buffet meal all combined to make this as pleasant an occasion as it could be. We stayed over with some family, enjoyed smart bedrooms housed within this historic building and had a good breakfast with exceptionally friendly and attentive staff looking after us. Whilst this was not the cheapest of the choices we had looked at, neither was it overly expensive - given the high standard of service and welcoming accommodation it was certainly good value for money and we were very glad we chose it. Well done The Bull for being able to provide great service without overdoing the formality. In particular, thanks for all your care which helped provide some comfort and cheer at a difficult time.
