We chose the Angel Hotel to tsay at for one night whilst visiting relatives nearby. The location is excellent and we were lucky enough to have a view of the Abbey Gardens and Cathedral. The hotel restaurant was fully booked for dinner, so I would advise others to pre-book if you wish to dine in the hotel. However, Maison Bleue turned out to be an excellent choice, (see my review). The hotel is in need of some refurbishment to the corridors and stairs, (faded and worn wallpaper and garish carpet that is out of place and doesn't match anything) but the room was very nicely decorated. The bathroom was clean and functional with a powerful shower and thick towels. The lounge bar was a lovely mix of old and new and had a very relaxing ambience, set off nicely with th roaring log fire. Pre dinner drinks in the lounge were served by a charming waiter who was very attentive. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold. Ham and eggs was my choice and I thoroughly recommend it. My only criticism of the hotel is that we booked a douible room and therefore I expect a double bed, not two singles pushed together!
