“Budget hotel does what it says on the tin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Stayed with my wife last weekend for 2 nights with my wife, whilst visiting our daughter. Room basic but very clean and shower worked very well which is something some hotels fall down on. The first night there was only 2 very thin pillows on the bed, went to reception but Mr Happy on duty said he had no more available so we made do with using towels. Next day receptionist said she'd put extra pillows in the room, which she did, funny to have a laundry delivery on Sunday morning, or was it just that Mr Happy couldn't be ------ the night before. OK the Little Chef is closed ,but is it really something you miss?, much better to dine in Sedgefield. For breakfast I 'd recommend the No 4 teashop opposite the church and for evening meal the Dun Cow Inn where Tony Blair entertained George Bush. Will stay again here as it wasn't all that bad.

“A better Travelodge.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Another £12 bargain night away, another Travelodge.

Cheap and cheerful, worth taking advantage of the sales when the have them.

Sedgefield Travelodge is tucked away, and not really near anything exciting to be honest. This has its plus points though, mainly that we had a quite nights sleep and parking was not a problem, both points that can be a problem in other Travelodges we have found.

Recent revamp has seen the rooms tidied up and some fresh paint, which is fine. A clean and tidy simple room is all we expect, and that is what we got. No complaints there.

Parking was easy and free, reception/check in was quick and friendly and the stay was good overall.

Situated next to a roundabout junction, with an all-night filling station and a closed-down Little Chef for company, the hotel is small but comfortable.

“Not the Ritz but good value buget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Stayed here for the weekend with a group of family and friends whilst at a sporting competition nearby.Room cost £29 per night for 4 of us - not a bad deal ! Reception staff were friendly and helpful. It is a small Travelodge and fairly quiet though as with all Travelodges, the walls are not very thick. The Little Chef on site has closed down but there is a garage and it is a short walk into Sedgefield which is a lovely little place and has lots of decent takeaways and pubs doing food.

The room was clean though had to ask for more towels which were sent quickly and the decor is a little "tired" but it is excellent value for money.

“Improvements since last year”

Another year, another £19 room en route north. Maybe it was just a diffrenet room, but all seems fresher and less run-down than last year. Reception also friendly and helpful unlike last year's Mr Grumpy. All in all, not a bad travelodge experience.

Note that the Little Chef next door has closed down. There are a number of pubs doing food in Sedgefiled (1 mile). For breakfast, most people seem to head to the big Tesco Supermarket just along the A177 on the outskirts of Stockton.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Booked family room for us & our two grandsons. Spoke to hotel by phone to check on booking etcin May. Arrived friday pm. No record of booking for grandsons & no bedding for them. Receptionist kept saying i could not have spoken to hotel as the number i had was not theirs.. Obviosly doesnt understand their central booking system & method of calling hotel options. Rang the number i had & the phone next to her rang. Asked her to answer it but she would not. I got very angry at this point & she threatened to call police. Had to go out & get sleeping bags for kids. Manager worse than useless as he had talked about us to two peple who came in half way through argument in reception. I object strongly to having my affairs discussed with third parties.
Wild horses wouldn't get me stopping their again. Breakfast in a bag is also a rip off as is very poor value.
