“EXCEPTIONAL HOST AND ACCOMMODATION AT WESTLEIGH OF DUNSTER.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2009

The Westleigh of Dunster has been lovingly restored and provides quality and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful village.
Craig is an absolutely outstanding host - kind, attentive and extremely hospitable. He went ‘above and beyond’ to make our 3 night stay a very special one.
Tasty breakfasts were skillfully produced using quality local ingredients and Craig’s scones are delicious.
This was by far the best accommodation experience we have had in all our travels and one we will remember with very fond memories.
Thank-you so much Craig.

“Stay at Craig’s Place”

Veneda had been wanting us to see Dunster for years. Upon arrival, we could see why. It is a stunning town, deserving the title of “The Jewel of Exmoor National Park.”

We chose to stay at Westleigh based on the excellent reviews here. They are well earned, as Craig (the host and owner) is one of the most genuinely hospitable innkeepers you will ever meet. He greeted us with homemade scones and tea in the sunny garden. Breakfast both mornings was thoughtfully prepared. Good Coffee. Bright, sunny breakfast room with skylight and French doors.

Good thing Craig’s hearty breakfast was so good because our dinners in Dunster were hugely disappointing. Cannot recommend either the Stag’s Head or Reeves.

Westleigh is pretty and exceptionally well maintained. Our room was comfortably appointed with king size bed, overlooking the enchanting town. The windows opened easily for taking in fresh Somerset air. The bathroom was large, with ample shower and tub (excellent water pressure) Bottled water was also left in the room both days (why doesn’t everybody do this?)

Heads up about parking and mobile/wi-fi issues. There is no parking for the Westleigh, though Craig is super about helping guests secure a good spot. This is not the easiest area for mobile/wi-fi operations. If you don’t need this stuff, forget about it until you get back to city life.

“The best service I have ever experienced”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2009

We stayed here when in Dunster for a wedding and count ourselves very fortunate to have chosen Westleigh of Dunster from which to base ourselves. Not only is it in a great location in lovely Dunster, it is a building with great character. However it's not just these factors alone that make it a great place to stay. In all my years of travelling for business or pleasure I have never experienced service like this. There are not enough superlatives to use when describing the way that we were looked after, so I will have to settle for excellent. I would go on holiday to Dunster just so we could stay at Westleigh again. They could not do enough to help and had thought of everything in order to make our stay an enjoyable one. We really enjoyed our time there and recommend it to everyone. And not forgetting the Dunster Double breakfast either, that have to be tried.

“My luck is never usually this good”

Our decision to go away was a late one but we experienced outstanding customer service right from the first moment for our three night stay.
We had a lovely helpful e-mail on booking followed by an even greater welcome when we arrived. There were little extras that made us feel welcome and at home. Little did we realise that all this was going to be surpassed by the breakfasts which I can honestly say were the best I have ever had.
The room was clean, spacious with a lovely bathroom, the bed had a really comfortable mattress and the internet was very fast (not something I can always say about big hotels).
Craig has mastered the art of good friendly service with professionalism. The Westleigh is a little gem, please try it for yourself you will not regret it.

“I would struggle to recommend a better B & B.”

My wife and I had a fantastic two-night stay at Westleigh. The B & B had been highly recommended to us but this still did not do it justice. Craig was a fantastic host who was incredibly helpful and accommodating, but not intrusive. From the moment that I phoned to enquire about a booking right to the end of our stay the service was brilliant; the information provided allowed us to plan where to eat, where to visit and where to go for some outstanding walks. My diet says that I shouldn't mention the wonderful breakfasts, still I was on holiday!
