My wife and I booked here for a 2 nights stay during the West Somerset Railway Gala. We found the place very easily and although parking the car was a bit awkward it was re-assuring to be able to get it off the street. Cliff was the perfect host. The stylish room we stayed in was very clean and tidy. It is obviously a very old house with uneven floors and exposed beams but that simply adds to the charm of the place. The adjoining en-suite bathroom was spotless and bright with a modern electric shower over the bath and lashings of hot water for a bath. Fluffy clean, new white towels were provided.

The hospitality was exceptional with Cliff inviting us to take tea in the lounge, a glass of beer now and again, a glass of whisky before bed etc. I expected these to be added onto the bill but no - It was all part of the service. An evening meal wasn't provided but Cliff was able to recommend and book anywhere we wanted in the village. Breakfast was excellent.

Overall I would highly recommend a stay here. In fact we've re-booked already for our next visit to Somerset.

We stayed here in the Summer for a friends wedding and we were absolutely blown away by the standard of accommodation and hospitality we received. The owners have got every single detail covered and offer the kinds of personal touches that are so thoughtful and are difference between it being a lovely place to stay to a superb one! We were treated like gold from the moment we arrived, given tea and cake upon arrival (which we were never charged for!) the breakfasts were outstanding and advice on local attractions, eateries and pubs etc was given in abundance.

The level of cleanliness was superb and one of the cleanest places I've ever had the pleasure to stay at. Honestly couldn't rate this place highly enough it is truly outstanding!

I chose Spears Cross and Dunster purely because of the rave reviews on Tripadvisor. I was not disappointed. Cliff and Trish are wonderful hosts and cannot do enough to help. We were welcomed with a galss of Cliff's homemade cider, which was delicious. We stayed in The Selworthy Suite. Very comfortable with everything we could possibly need. I loved the toiletries and the big fluffy towels and bathrobes. The breakfasts were superb - all locally sourced and very tasty. Cliff suggested an itinerary for a whistlestop tour which was very successful. We had a special meal in Reeves to round of a perfect couple of days. Will definitely go back.

This was our 14th visit in 5½ years and, as always, everything was perfect. As usual, we had the 2-level Selworthy suite, which makes for more space and privacy. Cleanliness was irreproachable and everywhere still looked brand new. The little extras are much appreciated: bottled water, fruit, tea-making facility, biscuits, decanter of Marsala and even complimentary tea and cake in the garden and then pre-dinner drinks one evening.

Breakfasts were fantastic, with a remarkable selection of options, including a lovely fruit salad. It's nice to be able to have alternative dishes such as smoked haddock or scrambled egg with trout.

Nothing is too much trouble for Cliff and Tricia and their restaurant booking service is another nice touch. The impeccable quality and service have been maintained and the establishment simply cannot be faulted even on the slightest detail.

The nearby Stag's Head pub again provided superb meals and service along with a welcoming atmosphere. It was crowded so booking is advised.
