We stayed for one night in Dunster and chance booked on the reccomendation of the gentleman in the village store. We arrived at 3pm and the inn had closed following lunch. But was welcomed and shown the rooms. They were beautifully adorned with all the extras you would expect from a 4 star hotel and the character and cleanliness of the place is fantastic. They were very casual when we realised we had brought dirt in on the light carpets.
The evening meal was great, the inn and restaurant being small and intimate. Although not very busy our waitress was attentive and pleasent. You could tell from the menu that all the meals were homemade. That may sound a daft thing to say but so many pubs rely on frozen pre produced items nowadays but still charge full prices. We were not sold short by any means. We played dominoes by the bar, but retired early as the room was so comfortable!
The breakfast display in the morning had fantastic variety. We were a little embarrassed to realise we were the only ones staying that night so the whole display was put out for us!
The end bill was less than I expected for the standard of the place. Im not sure if the tarrif is lower in January but we were pleasantly surprised.
