“oh dear.....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed here last year and thought it was quirky.Have to agree with Woodys review I'm afraid for this last visit!Anne really is a host and makes you feel welcome, especially with our dog, bowls and blankets treats and all.But I trod dog poo all in the place from the car park area which had lots of deposits left behind from her dog i would imagine.
The place really does need a spring clean and maintenance. The landing carpet needs replacing.....from dirty shoes....
Breakfast was all locally sourced and organic but human hair on the table and in the marmalade, not mine and dog hair on my bacon and plate isnt that endearing!
The positioning of the bed and breakfast is super for the local pubs and walking in Cheddar. The house is beautiful if it was cleaned.
The owner is trying to make this work and her enthusiasm or hospitality can't be faulted but I feel it needs money and time spent on it.would love to return but not until its under the food and hygiene radar.....

“Nice place but avoid rooms at the front.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Stayed here for one night when cycling through on my lands end to John o'groats trip. I was the only guest, which was fortunate, as the room I was originally booked into was at the front of the house and suffered from a lot of road noise. Anne the landlady was very happy to transfer me to a room at the back and made up the room, which was not prepared, willingly and with good grace. Breakfast was good and cooked to order.

“Misleading and disapointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Don't be fooled by the website, this is not 4 star accomodation, the b&b is in desperate need of a spring clean and maintenance. The breakfast is poor, the hygiene is also poor and several sauces and in particular the marmite is out of date! The rear car park is in desperate need of a big tidy up, the lounge room smells of old houses and the landing has a dirty carpet and smells of pot pouri to hide the "old house" smell. The bedroom at the front faces the noisy road and the ensuite has a dreadfull shower with no water pressure. The owner is over powering and clearly is struggling running this b&b. Best to avoid this one!

“So helpful and welcoming to four weary cyclists”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

Myself and three friends stayed here as part of our lands End to John O'Groats cycle challenge. The room was great even though it had to accomodate four lads and the breakfast set us up perfectly for our next leg to Leominster. We were also given an alternative route to Bristol by the owner that allowed us to avoid the rush hour traffic. Truly excellent!

“Cosy and Christmassy”

A lovely place to stay, a warm welcome and a homely atmosphere. Great for people and their dogs. Good food and free parking, a short pleasant walk to all Cheddar has to offer.
