“Disappointed.”

We had stayed before in December 2009, and found it to be ok, but this year we were very disappointed with our stay. I don't know where everyone else are getting 'friendly owners' from, we have yet to even meet the owner after two stays, and just met the young man who cleaned our rooms and served us breakfast, which, credit to him, was lovely. No-one was there to meet us, despite us arriving at exactly the time we said we would. I rang the owner and she seemed surprised (despite her insistence of a time of arrival which we adhered to) and non-apologetic. We had to get the key from the hiding place and let ourselves in. Very unimpressed. Added to this an extremely lumpy uncomfortable mattress, and a shower which seemed to switch between 2 settings, scalding and freezing, and a freezing cold breakfast room - seriously I nearly wore my hat down to breakfast one morning - and it just wasn't worth the money, despite being one of the cheapest in Bath. Definitely not recommended - pay a bit extra and stay somewhere better where owners actually meet you when you arrive and show their faces when you're there - we will next time.

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

I decided to stay in Bath on an impulse and was booked into Ashgrove Guest House by Tourist Information.

Everyone I met at Ashgrove was charming and helpful. The room was very small but the bed was clean and comfortable, I could make myself a cup of tea and there was an ensuite loo and shower. In short, everything I needed.

The road on which the guesthouse is located is rather noisy, but this is compensated for by the fact it is very close to the city centre. I would definitely stay there again on future visits to Bath.

“such nice people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

We stayed at this very pleasant guest house for two days at the busiest time of the year. We were met in the door by the very helpful, gracious and friendly owners. We were not charged over the odds as some B and B`s were doing, but the standard rate.
The rooms were very clean and spacious. The breakfast`s were really the best breakfasts i experienced in my whole trip through southern england.
I would recommend this B and B to everyone who appreciates good service and good food.

“Very friendly, clean and comfortable, close to all attractions in Bath”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2010

Travelled with husband and mother in law. Very friendly and welcoming. Some areas in need of refurbishment, single room very pokey and badly needs brightening up. Breakfast great. Perfect base for getting around they provided parking which was a real help. Overall for what we paid, good value.
