We had stayed before in December 2009, and found it to be ok, but this year we were very disappointed with our stay. I don't know where everyone else are getting 'friendly owners' from, we have yet to even meet the owner after two stays, and just met the young man who cleaned our rooms and served us breakfast, which, credit to him, was lovely. No-one was there to meet us, despite us arriving at exactly the time we said we would. I rang the owner and she seemed surprised (despite her insistence of a time of arrival which we adhered to) and non-apologetic. We had to get the key from the hiding place and let ourselves in. Very unimpressed. Added to this an extremely lumpy uncomfortable mattress, and a shower which seemed to switch between 2 settings, scalding and freezing, and a freezing cold breakfast room - seriously I nearly wore my hat down to breakfast one morning - and it just wasn't worth the money, despite being one of the cheapest in Bath. Definitely not recommended - pay a bit extra and stay somewhere better where owners actually meet you when you arrive and show their faces when you're there - we will next time.
