“Staying at The Grove makes you feel at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2009

I stayed at The Grove for 3 nights with my family. We slept in both "Jane Austen" and "Delaware" rooms: very comfortable, clean, full of light. Robert and Dee are very kind people, warm and you can ask them anything about Bath and surroundings. We felt "home".
Breakfast was perfect, Dee is a very good cook.
We will never forget this pleasant stay in Bath.

“Excellent B&B, excellent hosts and excellent location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2009

My partner and I stayed here over the weekend of 25 September for my birthday. I cannot fault this 5 star B&B one bit. We stayed in the Jane Austen room and as soon as Dee took us in there I was amazed! The room was sooo big!! Everything about it was fantastic and we had a great view of their garden from our windows. Dee and Robert are extremely welcoming hosts and talk to you about anything and everything. Their house is beautiful as is their enormous garden! Yes the house is on a hill, like the website says, but it was good exercise for me as I don't do enough exercise to begin with! It is in a nice and peaceful location and only a 10 minute walk to Bath city centre. This is one of the few B&Bs we've stayed in where we have felt really welcome. The breakfast, despite what a past reviewer has said was by no means "rather over charred each morning and not pleasant to eat" - it was anything but charred. My partner had an egg and bacon sandwich for the two mornings we were there and I had a sausage sandwich on the last morning and they were lovely - not unpleasant like someone else commented a while back. I would recommend this B&B to all my friends and family as it is well worth the money you pay and the hosts are just great - oh and yes, their gorgeous cat is lovely too - she is pregnant at the moment but due to give birth any day. She is so friendly and I really didn't want to leave when it came to checking out yesterday! Excellent all round so massive thanks to Dee and Robert from Josh and I :o)

“Wonderful stay at The Grove”

My mom and I stayed in The Grove on the May bank holiday weekend. Robert & Dee were wonderful hosts who were always readily available but who were never overbearing. Their house and garden are absolutely exquisite. We stayed in the Jane Austen room which was perfect from the heavy warm duvet to the little shampoo's they provided. Breakfast was delicious - I was totally hooked by Dee's muesli! The house is situated at the top of a hill but this is well advertised but the walk is very pleasant, and it does not take long to get into Bath city center. Robert was kind enough to provide us with a map of Bath and various information booklets which made our stay that much easier. I would highly recommend The Grove as we had an absolutely wonderful stay here.

“Heaven in Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2008

The Grove is a lovely Gerogian home that sits atop a hill in the Widcombe area of Bath. This is the perfect setting for a walk along the Avon River to the center of Bath. Also, within easy walking distance one can find several eateries. Choices range from local bistros, our favorite was Ring O Bells, a deli and several pubs/taverns. The owners are delightful and will keep you entertained with tales of local history, genealogy and art. The food was plentiful and good. Be sure to enjoy tea or a stroll in the beautiful garden that the owners tend with some help from their gardener. We would definitely return to The Grove should we visit Bath in the future.

“"Nice but expensive"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2008

Some days we get reminders of where we have been. Other days we also realize where we do not wish to return. On rare, all of this way come together, along with where our hearts and pockets really want to go.

We live in Finland and we fly to UK to visit my parents-in-law. My husband and I had a break from spending almost 3 weeks with his parents living in Surrey. We decided to visit Bath, in Somerset and we stayed at The Grove B&B for one night.

The owners were very sociable and gracious and made us very comfortable. Every detail of the house is beautifully executed. We stayed in a room called Jane Austen, which was the most expensive of the rooms, if my memory serves me right. The room is very spacious, clean and everything is thought about except that there were no bathrobes and no fresh cut flowers as listed in the brochure for all guest rooms!

The breakfast was excellent and the famous rhubarb concoction is very, very good and the hostess was kind enough to give me the recipe. The back garden is very beautiful and interesting and the location is very peaceful, just like our home neighbourhood.
