Bailbrook House is set in a good location and has beautiful grounds housing a lovely historic buidling with an interesting history. We were welcomed by efficient staff and headed to our room (which are housed in separate blocks behind the historic building). At first we were a little taken aback as it appeared to be almost dormitory style accommodation and no lifts, but were pleased with our spacious, clean and comfortable room with a nice outlook over the grounds. A little noisy with people at night and unfortunate problem with the fire alarm going off in the morning (false alarm thankfully, at least it works!) The location is good and the bus stop very close by for easy access into the heart of Bath itself (stunning!) fi you want a good long walk you can get into town though it would be at least 40+ minutes which we enjoyed but not for everyone . The disappointment for us was with the Cafe and restaurant - the cafe had very limited choice and had both the TV and radio blaring at the same time so we sat with a glass of wine outside! The restaurant had a really limited menu also but disappointingly had no soy milk for someone like myself who is lactose intolerant which when asked at Breakfast was met with a curt 'no' and then the attendant walked off (had asked at reception upon checkin but they did not know and suggested we ask at breakfast) I expected they would at least offer to get some in during our stay but nothing was offered and the attitude was very curt. The breakfast staff certainly did not seem happy and appeared quite peeved at being there which didn't make for a great start to the day - maybe we copped them on a bad week but it was the same each morning. Overall the stay was OK but I need to be honest in saying I would probably not choose to stay again.
