“Crescent Guest House, Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I have been staying here for a couple of weeks and wanted to share my experience as I have tried one or two other B&Bs but there were drawbacks with all of them. This is an excellent guest house. Extremely clean and tidy. My room is a single on the 1st floor but comes with integral bathroom and shower to the highest quality. TV choice is terrestial and some freeview. Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room and heating system excellent. The full English breakfast is unbeatable with plenty of other options too. The hotel is on the A4 and whilst parking is a problem in Bath a huge car park is located at the rear of the building (Charlotte St at £8 day) and the landlady will provide a free permit if you want to park in a street nearby. Excellent internet coverage free of charge too. Easy walking distance to Bath city centre or north towards the Crescent. Friendly informative landlady. Highly recommended and I intend to stay here as long as I continue to work in Bath.

Room Tip: I can only advise on my single room which is the first room you come to on the 1st floor.

We have just returned home from the Crescent Guest House and couldnt wait to get out. We arrived at the time we had stated after five minutes of banging on the door we were greeted by an extremely unfriendly owner who informed us that we were early (we werent) and she was on the telephone!! Our room was in the attic and was unbelievably small, there was no room for our luggage and we kept banging our heads on the sloping roof. The ensuite was an absolute joke. It was a shower cubicle with a toilet in it, so when you had used the shower you could not use the tolet again as it was wet through. The breakfast was nice but the owner was not impressed when we didnt want any fruit or cereal and made some muttered comment like "I dont know why I bother"!! The only positive about this place was the location, just a five minute walk into the lovely city of Bath.
We certainly would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 5

“Awful.....”

We booked a night stay at the Crescent Guest House and had hopes of a clean and comfortable B&B. Our hopes were dashed, to the point we couldn’t get out fast enough and skipped breakfast entirely.

We were met by a very inhospitable woman who seemed confused at our arrival. After being made to feel rather uncomfortable waiting around we were abruptly given our key and told that she had street parking permits available. We had read the website instructions of parking and had already duly paid to park in the Charlotte Street car park.

Our room was ridiculous. My partner could lie on the bed and touch one side of the room with his hand and the other wall with his foot. It was tiny, certainly no double with minimum space around the bed – no where to even put our bags. We had to keep stepping over them. The bathroom is tiny, the shower door can not fully open because of the size of the bathroom. The furniture in the room is old, the bed I don’t think a full size double, my partner had to sleep with his feet out of the bed as they were hitting the footboard (he’s 6 foot 2 – not unusual!).

The smell of burning bacon and grease the next morning awoke us and put the icing on the cake. We didn’t stay for breakfast and left as soon as we could. It is unreasonable to sell this room as a double.

Room Tip: Book a different B&B

“Cosy and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

I stayed at this guest house for 2 nights on business. Rita, the owner, was very helpful in getting me a taxi arranged from Bristol airport. The room I had was snug, but had everything I needed. Rita is very welcoming and gives the stay a personal touch. Upon request, she had breakfast ready at 8. Our business was at the university. The guest house is a short walk from the High St, where the bus up to the uni can be caught. I feel I had a much better stay than I would have had in a business hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are probably a bit quieter than at the front.

“Great to be back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

My boyfriend and myself came away to Bath for the weekend with another couple, and we all enjoyed our stay at the Crescent Guest House. Rita, the owner of the guest house was very friendly and welcoming. She cooked up a brilliant breakfast which set us up for the day. The rooms were very comfy. Our friends were staying in a room which was facing the road and they experienced some noise late at night from students returning from their night out but lets face it, its a student town so its expected (I should know, I was a student in Bath myself) but it didn't really bother them.

If traveling to Bath by car, Rita will supply you with a parking permit, which is good, however parking can be a pain as you have to park on the road and there can be a short supply of parking spaces.

The guest house is only five minutes walk from the city center and all of Baths main attractions such as the Royal Crescent and the Roman Baths.

On the Saturday we took a trip to Longleat Safari park which only took us 40 minutes and its well worth the visit.

Over all, a fantastic stay and we WILL be back.....
