I've stayed in many hostels throughout europe and this was hands down the worst. The website we booked it through told us we could check in when we arrived but when we got there after our journey we were turned away as it was too early. When we did come, and finally got to check in, the staff were so rude, one guy in particular was so purposely unfriendly it was upsetting. Beds were ok, we shared a room with 6 other guys, all very nice but still had an unpleasant nights sleep. Thank god we were only there for one night, it was the only redeeming feature of our stay there. Aside from the horrendous backpackers hostel, Bath is amazing, a wonderful place to wander around. just stay here, nothing is worth (especially when they charge £20 a night)

Very unhelpful staff, was in Bath for one night for a wedding and wasn't even guaranteed a room when I had booked online weeks before. Wish I saw pictures or i would have not bothered or just stayed at YMCA. Absolutey disgusting. Staff was no where to be found when I wanted to check out so they kept my £5 deposit. Think they should be fumigated for bed bugs, woke up covered in bites. Old rubber matresses and squeaky beds. Luckily the bride was staying at the Kennard and let me shower and nap there, which I am truly grateful for!!! I can't even imagine the showers but seeingthe disgusting kitchens and old, battered and sacked out sofas was bad enough. The doors don't even lock, thankful I took my valuables with me.

Basically, this hostel is good for its location near the train/bus station and its proximity to the center of town. Pretty much everything else about it was terrible.
The girl who checked us in barely paid any attention to helping us. The beds were incredibly squeaky - so much so that it kept several people awake in the room. I was honestly afraid that the large girl above me was going to break the bed and crush me. The lockers in the room are inadequately small, with only enough room for a small electronics or a computer or a small purse. I hated leaving my belongings out with no security, but oh well.
This might be dumb, but they have a no food rule in the rooms. That was really annoying for me. I prefer places that let me eat and drink in my room.
Showers and bathrooms are seriously lacking in number and in quality. They just felt icky and didn't have enough supplies, let alone a curtain that actually protected the bathroom user from people looking in. Showers ran hot and cold every 20 seconds, but at least they had enough room to move around in.
We made friends with a guy who recently started working at the hostel. He told us that it had been robbed several times in his two week employment. Maybe because they just leave the door wide open all day so just anyone can come on in!! That made me feel uneasy for the rest of our stay.
I suppose it was worth dealing with these things to save money in expensive Bath, but I wouldn't make the same mistake twice by staying there again.
