“Very Helpful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

For its very reasonable price, this was a very good place to stay for a weekend in Bath. Comfortable and very convenient to the town centre and key places to see. The room was fine and the bed comfortable, perfectly fine shower too. Breakfast was cooked to order and enjoyable. I would recommend avoiding the lower ground floor bedroom if you can as the external light seemed very bright, but as the hotel seemed fully booked someone had to have it. I left a shirt behind and they very kindly posted it on. I paid an affordable price and got a perfectly acceptable service.

Room Tip: Ask not to have the lower ground floor bedroom if possible, bright external light

“Weekend Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Excellent - they couldn't have been more obliging. Very handy for center of Bath. They close and lock the communal lounge at 9:30pm, which seemed a bit strange. However, they let us have the key and use the lounge. We were on the top floor which I think was 4 flights of stairs.

I booked three double rooms for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Dec 2011. With the exception that one person had to have one cold shower (no hot water available) our stay was wonderful. The staff are most helpful and gave us great advice on travelling from Bath to Bristol . The breakfasts are tasty and satisfying and large, the rooms are a little small (but this is a listed townhouse so the room size cannot be addressed by the owners). Overall we highly recommend The Edgar Townhouse and would happily stay there the next time we visit Bath.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back (away from the road) are quieter.

Thank you for recommending us. The shower dial in the room has been tweaked by the plumber and now has a sufficient supply of hot water. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in Bath with us and look forward to seeing you again.

“Great to be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Second time that we have stayed at the Edgar Townhouse, and over the past two years, it seems to have retained its standards. A key factor in selecting this establishment is its location on Great Pulteney Street making central Bath easily accessible by walking.
Travelling as a family of three, we shared a room on the first level. This was a large room capable of sleeping four with a view over the park at the back. The bathroom is modern and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent and delivered in a timely manner. Would be happy to return to the Edgar Townhouse when next in Bath.

“Great place to stay in friendliest city in the UK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I have just returned from trip to Europe. Travelling mostly around the United Kingdom. Stayed at the Edgar Townhouse for three nights. I have to thank other trip advisor reviewers for finding this place. The location was excellent, an easy walk from the train station, even with heavy suitcases. Every place of interest, Bath Cathedral, the Roman Baths, Royal Crescent, the Thermal Spas, Pulteney bridge all within walking distance. The accommodation itself, I cannot fault, the room was clean, (and my travelling companion who is a clean freak even gave it her tick of approval), a generous size, could move around room without crashing into suitcases and furniture. The bathroom too was a good size. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially the lady on reception (who unfortunately I did not get her name) she helped to carry bags up the stairs to our room, and generally was helpful with information on places to eat and places to visit. Breakfast too was generous and tasty, with option of continental and full english. The hotel also offers discounted vouchers to the thermal spa if you book directly through their web site. Bath is definitely a must visit city and the people are the friendliest I have encountered in the UK quick to help if you look lost, and every shop or cafe I went into the staff were friendly and chatty. Make sure you go to thermal spas, the roof top pool, has fantastic view of bath, and don't miss the steam rooms, very therapeutic. Make sure you have a meal at Jamie Oliver's italian restaurant.

Room Tip: As for room not facing street, if you want a good nights sleep, not traffic noise, but noisy pedestr...
