“Great rooms, great service, great breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Very comfortable and elegant rooms (we had the cheapest room - while it was in the basement it was very comfortable with a very nice bathroom and wasn't dark). The staff were very welcoming and helpful: recommending bars and restaurants, booking taxis etc. Breakfast was delicious. We got a last minute discount which made it excellent value - worth holding out for these deals particularly off-season.

Location is 20-25 mins walk from Bath centre but half of that can be done through the park so it's a nice walk to do if the weather is good.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Post Christmas Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I was delighted with every aspect of the Apsley House Hotel apart from the beds in our room.

My friend and I stayed in the Peninsular twin bedded room. The room and ensuite bathroom were beautiful and spotlessley clean, but both beds were rock hard! The staff did all that they could to make them more comfortable for our second night but they were still very uncomfortable. I am sure that we were just unlucky because the room occuppied by our children (in their 20's) had a very comfortable bed. I think that it would be a good excercise for the owners of the hotel to try all their beds out for a night so that they are aware of how comfortable they are.

The hotel is beautifully furnished and the cooked breakfast was the best that I have ever had!!!

I would definitely recommend the Apsley House Hotel and I would stay there again but would ask for a room with a more comfortable bed!!

“A perfect place to stay in a city which I know of from Jane Austen's books”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We made a last minute booking at the Aspley House for an overnight stay in Bath.We did a little reasearch on-line, but we were not prepared for the beauty of this house! It looks as though it has been transported from a century or two ago (except for the bathrooms, which are kept in period style, but are actually modern and the flat screen tvs). We stayed in the 'Romantic Room' and it's a shame we only had one night. Loved the mahogany carved Four Poster Bed! Staff were most helpful and friendly and breakfast in the dining room was lovely - prompt service and great food.

Room Tip: The 'Romantic Room' is exactly what it promises to be - cannot recommend a better place for...

“Epitomises the ideal B&B! Oozes character, class and has the personal touch!”

Wow earned myself some serious brownie points with the girlfriend after booking a weekend away for a birthday treat.

Apsley house epitomises the ideal B&B, not too many rooms so you get that personal touch, quaint and oozing character.

Stayed in the Beau room which is highly recommended for couples. Why?- a HUGE antique roll top tub big enough to fit three people easily. Have to be honest- was a little disappointed until i actually got into the tub and then realised how deep it was. The other benefit is that you have your own private garden entrance, which makes you feel you have your own little hideaway. The room also has a very nice 4 poster bed and flatscreen. The room isn't huge- but very cosy nonetheless. Free WIFI as standard.

The rest of the hotel is exactly what you'd hope for, drawing room with a high ceilings, antique furniture and a lovely open fire. Breakfast mustn't be missed!!! Lovely locally sourced ingrediants. The hotel itself is like a large country house- very nice.

Its about a 25 minute walk into town or a £5 cab ride. You get lovely views over the garden into the surrounding area. The hotel also has its own off street parking.

Service was great, i only remembered to bring a usb phone charger and the management lent me their spare laptop to use it with. They were very friendly and made us feel very at home.

As people have said before me- this hotel definitely deserves the no.1 spot. If we ever return to Bath we know where we'll be staying!

“As good as people say”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This hotel (really a B&B) has good reviews on this website and they are entirely justified. The accommodation has an upmarket country house feel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, which is very good, is served with none of the regimentation of times and menu selection that you sometimes get with B&Bs.

The only drawback is that it's almost a couple of miles out of the city centre, but there is a bus stop across the road with services every half hour so it's not too much of an inconvenience.

Highly recommended.
