In general you can put up with some fairly bad things if you are getting something really cheap, but if you pay a lot for something very poor you can not help but feel utterly ripped off.
The hotel room was so small you could only just walk around the bed. This issue was massively multiplied by the fact there was effectively nowhere to store clothes or put bags. This meant that every movement became a chore and two people trying to get ready to go out became a nightmare.
Moving onto the bed. For starters I am not convinced it was even a double, but regardless of that it may as well have been a single as so few springs in it still functioned it was almost impossible for two people to sleep in it. If you have ever slept in a deflating air mattress and had it start to wrap around you you will know the feeling. After a two night stay in this hotel I was starting to get pains in my back.
I am 6 foot tall, so am on the taller side but not to the extent I would normally have issues. In this hotel I hit my head off low ceilings in the stairwells going to the room and could not even sit on the toilet properly as there was not enough space for my legs.
To cap it all, the bedroom, toilet, shower and bed linen were not particularly clean.
If I had paid a trivial amount of money for this room I would probably have forgiven it most of the above and simply made a joke about not me not being so stingy in the future. However, this place is charging a premium price for utter rubbish.
