“£12 bargain break!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Just came home yesterday from a 1 night break at the Travelodge Bath Waterside. We had paid £12 in the Travelodge sale for our room and I was a bit dubious after reading some of the other reviews. I shouldn't have been though. Our room was very clean, excellent location - a lovely 10 minute walk to the centre and Pulteney Bridge - and we could leave our car in the car park for £5 for 24hours. A very quiet and safe location - did hear a little bit of noise from the train line but not too bad. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so cannot comment but we do highly recommed breakfast at Gourmet Scoffs cafe behind the Abbey overlooking the Parade Gardens. My husband so enjoyed his full English breakfast and my Wiltshire bacon sandwich was gorgeous! We ate dinner Sunday night at Mai Thai in Pierrepoint Street and the food and staff were lovely. All in all a fantastic 2 day break - all for a bargain £12 per night stay!

“Bargain ! - (Don't Get Me Started On Negative Reviewers !)”

THis is frankly one of the best Travelodges my wife and I have stayed in (on more than one occassion). Even the moaners have to compliment the place on it's location. (We always arrive by train.) I'm currently sitting in the room on my second night, overlooking the canal basin, using the free superfast wi-fi. We don't favour the TL breakfast and prefer the Kindling Coffee Shop over the road. The reception is 24 hour and we found everyone perfectly acceptable. The communal areas are uncharacteristically spacious. The parking does seem good value. Proximity to the sights including the Rec. for the rugby are ideal.
I really have NO sympathy for you serial moaners who choose to dump on TL at every opportunity. You really have to consider a review in the context of price paid. (This time £15 per night - Xmas 2010, £29 per night.) I can't believe people actually pay £60+ !!! - That's just poor forward planning ! Do you also leave a tip after paying for a Big Mac ? Could you please forward your account details and PIN number to me straight away ! Why bother using this brand ? It clearly isn't aimed at you ! - Who expects Singapore Airlines for Ryannair prices ? GRRRRRR !!!!! (I'm going to lie down now - on my semi comfortable bed.........)

Room Tip: Canal Basin views are pleasant but there is a bank of AC fans which run through the night. (not unus...

“A gem of a find!”

When reading the reviews after booking for three nights I started to panic ever so slightly... as it turns out there was absolutely no need to worry. Our room overlooked the water, was large for a Travelodge double room and the heater worked a treat on the coldest nights for years! Yes the pillows are thin but we managed to get a couple of spares plus the double bed was huge, the room was very clean and it was ever so quiet.

Every single member of staff we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful which made it feel more like a hotel stay than simply budget hotel accommodation. I would like to thank them for making us so welcome...

However the main plus side has to be the location... a five minute walk to the city via the train station or a lovely ten minute stroll taking the scenic route by the river... Bath is a stunning city and to be able to stay so close to the centre without breaking the bank felt really special... I can't wait to return...

Room Tip: Land as close to check in time as possible and request a lake view as it gives you distance from the...

“awful hotel but fab location”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We didn't get this hotel for £15 but paid £160 for 2 nights! Then it's £5 to park for 24 hours. Very basic hotel in need of modernisation, although the staff are friendly wouldn't go to a travelodge again. Bar area on first night showed all the soaps for an hour and a half then Law and Order and we had to go and ask the bar lady to serve us as she was only interested in watching tv and then the food made me sick. On the second night asked the receptionist to order us a taxi for in 20 mins which then took 1 and half hour to turn up which she didn't tell us and had she told us we would have walked. The rooms are basic with a very uncomfortable bed. However if you can get it for £15 it is only 10 mins walk into the town where there are lots of restaurants/shops. Would recommend Bath for a weekend but not this hotel!

Room Tip: go to a different hotel!

“Ok at reduced price sale, food dreadful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on the winter sale offer. For £15 per night it was a bargain, the room ok but couldnt put anything in the drawers as they had dust and debris from previous guests. Lots of hot water and clean towels. We made a bad decision by eating in the restaurant bar the first night. It was silly because just around the corner there are lots of lovely great value restaurants. Our meals were indedible, I had the chilli beef rib which was over cooked and very dry and had been kept hot under the 'keep hot lights' until we were ready for it. My husband had a steak pie with Colcannon mash which was like reconstituted potato (remember the little robots in the spaceship advert for a certain dried potato) with a few spring greens thrown in. I got a refund for the chilli rib and was asked if I wanted something else but did not trust the chef to cook it 'well'. I have to say all the staff we met were lovely and helpful and very polite

Room Tip: Take a pillow there's are very unforgiving !!
