Our first Bath Priory experiencesome years ago was not the best but this visit convinced us again.
From the moment we drove up to the front off the hotel till the moment we left through the gate it was just divine.
We walked up to the desk and all arrangements were double checked and confirmed. Our room Honeysuckle was on the top floor and has stunning views of the garden (this time of year)and the room itself ticked all the boxes. When Mila walked into the room she found her new best friend (a teddy bear with hoody-sweater) on her bed next to him sat an elephant (made from towels and stick-on eyes).Wow so far.
We went downstairs Sabrina for treatments, Mila & myself went swimming (in the outdoor pool!), mila's dinner and a nice glass of cold Lugana. The last two we consumed on the terrace. More wow.
Once Mila was asleep supervised by Charlotte (pro-Mila-sitter), we made our way downstairs for a mind-blowing sun-blushed foodie evening.
We had the tasting menu prepared for us (tasting menu for me is always a winner it is chef's at their best). Thanks mr. Moody and dedicated team of pro's.
The problem of what to do for wine was a no-brainer, Guillaume (head sommelier) did a selection of beauties.
A glass of Gruner Veltliner with stunning canapes and our first course of scallops, followed by sweetbreads paired with a corbieres, Montagny from stephane aladame had a beautiful dance with sea bass and langoustine, Temperanillo/cabernet was paired with lamb and watercress (the lamb was stunning, the wine was a bit too much for me, could have been the temperature),
a luscious pre-dessert without wine (blessing) and to finish us off, chocolate fondant with a maury "mas amiel rouge". For this a standing ovation for both kitchen and waiting staff and more wow.
After somebody carried us upstairs, we had our coffees and petit fours in the room.
Waking up the next day we felt like "a million bucks", we ate our lovely breakfast had a swim in the outside pool and unfortunately had to check out.
It is unique for someone to fully relax in one day but The Bath Priory made this happen for us Thank you!
The only thing that we noticed is that the restaurant staff is stuck in recite mode. If you make this interaction a bit more personal it would make it so much more enjoyable for the guest but the quality of the food and the passion of Guillaume made up for this.
