“Good comfortable B & B with off street parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2007

Booked this B&B for a 1 Sat night stay at the last minute (Friday Night !). The lady manager was very helpful & made us feel welcome on arrival. The big advantage of this B&B is that it has off street parking which is a real bonus in Bath. The hotel is in a quiet residential area 20 min walk from the centre of Bath - be warned thought it is a fairly steep hill to walk back up. For reference a taxi is around £5 to the centre. The rooms are comfortable and decorated in a traditional style and breakfast was excellent. I would recommend dealing with the property directly to avoid the confusion others have experienced in booking through agencies.

“No one was home when we arrived”

I booked one room checking in on July 10, 2007 for three nights and had an email confirmation from Catherine. We arrived at Meadowland on July 10 around 5 PM but found no one there and the door was locked. We called and left a voice message on their answering machine, but they never even had the decency to return our phone call. We were fortunate enough to find excellent accommodations at the Cheriton House in Bath which we would highly recommend. As for Meadowland, shame on you John and Catherine for treating your guests in such a shabby manner.

Having just found the right to reply section, the above review only tells half the story. This booking was made 11 months in advance.Despite emails requesting renewed confirmation we recieved no confirmation. The guests arrived at Meadowland without any immediate prior communication and we regret that we were away at the time.

“Very comfortable, wonderful breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2007

We rented three rooms for one night. The rooms were beautifully decorated – light and airy. One of the rooms had a little sitting area in a bay window, which was delightful. The beds were comfortable, with plush bedding. The breakfast was delicious and made to order. John and Catherine were very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The location was good – especially for the price. We walked downhill into Bath twice, and both times took a taxi back. The taxi was inexpensive. I would definitely stay here again. The only concern I have is that one of the rooms was above the kitchen/living quarters of the hosts, and there was a loud TV in evening, and people talking loudly in the morning, so it would have been difficult to sleep late.

“Lovely place to stay”

We stayed here for 2 nights in March. Our bedroom was delightful with a lovely view across to the Royal Crescent. A good breakfast was served each morning which gave us the energy to go up and down the hills in Bath! Catherine and John made us most welcome and had plenty of information and advice on places of interest and eating establishments. Look forward to going back there sometime.

“Great Frustration and Disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2007

I had a very frustrating anjd unpleasant experience with this hotel. I booked for three nights on a website and had a confirmed booking. Then one day before I was due to leave I received a short email from the owner saying they had overbooked and could I change my arrangements. Bath is a very busy place over a weekend and I was thus left high and dry. The stand in manager was very unhelpful to deal with. First she indicated it was my responsibility to find somewhere else to stay, and then after contacting the website, I found out it was in their contract to help me find an alternative. The manager was not happy at all about the prospect of helping me find somewhere else to stay and did so very begrundgingly, locating a hotel across the road that I believe provided an unsuitable alternative. I would not deal with this hotel again and would warn others booking on the website to be careful as they dont manage this process at all well and if they make mistakes dont accept responsibility for them.

The double booking arose from 2 online bookings comming through within a short period. At the time this customer was offered alternate comparable 5 star accommodation which she refused to take. She became very abusive to our staff and in the end we informed her that we could no longer deal with her.
