we stayed in bath in April and it was a chore really this hotel more of a B/B was abit old and tired scenery was about the only thing l enjoyed manager has a good sence of humour through .............. they say this is only 4 miles out of bath seemed like alot more to me we moved onto another hotel in the end as to isolated if you want quiet this is the spot

Stayed here in Nov last year. This really shouldn't be a hotel on BW's list as it's definatley more of a B&B. Very outdated rooms, radiators didn't work properly hence room was very cold and also an uncomfortable bed. I suspect that there is actually no chef in this hotel and that the owner cooks the food (at least that was the experience I had for dinner & breakfast). Food quality OK but not great value. Location is basically in the middle of nowhere, if you like that then this hotel (read B&B) might be for you. I certainly wouldn't stay here again and indeed, moved to the BW Centurion in Radstock after the first night.

definitely a mixed experience. They hardy seemed to have any staff, but that wasn't a massive problem because there were so few guests. The amount of multi-tasking that the few staff were expected to do was impressive though.One guy checked us in, was the wine waiter, bar man and also the food waiter!

The food was pretty decent -when the chef was there. But he apparently had the night off(over a weekend !) and the standard in his absence was "lame" and that's being kind.

If you're looking for a quiet hotel away from it all (and you don't mind tired decor) this could be for you..

I would like to start by saying that the rooms and hotel are old and dated, but what would you expect from a property that was built in the 1820's.

My stay at the hotel was an unforgettable one, the staff are very friendly and more than willing to help the guests with any request or answer any question that you may have, if the staff do not know the answer to a specific question they go out of their way to find the answer for you.

The food at the hotel is exceptional, the menu is well thought out and I very much enjoyed my meals at the hotel.

The hotel setting is breath taking, the views from the rooms are very pleasant, the silence of the valley is just what a person would want when getting out of the city.

I would highly recommend this hotel to all of my friends and family, this is a must see for any couple that wants to get away for a quiet weekend.
