We stayed for a couple of nights with with friends, primarily to visit Bath. I think I am being fair to say that this hotel is delightfully old fashioned, in its decor and some of the facilities, but also in the attention from the owners, the overall service, and the general feeling that you are very welcome. A little story which explains this hotel. To get into Bath, we chose to use the "Park and Ride", and the owner of the hotel produced a well used typed instruction sheet on finding the park and ride. He warned us that GPS SatNavs take you down very narrow roads.... so we followed the instructions and the trip was quick and easy. On the way back, we let the SatNav direct us.... and guess what, the roads were very narrow indeed, and took much longer.
We stayed in the "Garden Room", which is possibly the largest hotel room in Europe, with fabulous views, and a separate entrance onto the front terrace.
A family run hotel.... run by a family that clearly love the hotel business. Dont expect the predictability of anonymous chain hotels. Do expect a warmth of welcome, and a very comfortable and memorable stay.
As we drove away, all four of us smiled and agreed that we had enjoyed the few days enormously. What else can you ask for?
PS The owner has a wonderful range of single malt whiskies.
