“Paradise House”

This is a b & b which comes across more like a really good hotel with excellent friendly and helpful service. I really feel like writing this review in case next time they'll be too busy as I notice that all the reviews here are good! However, the views across Bath with the abbey lite in the night sky and the morning birds singing from the walled garden, the morning mist clearing to reveal the churches and soft Bath stone buildings was really the best I've experienced in the UK and I'm a native! The staff went out of their way to help, providing our vegan breakfast, offering to drop our bags at the station. This is an example of a well run place with staff who know exactly what they're doing to make your stay a great experience which lives up to being in a world heritage city. Paradise House is well named.

Room Tip: Front upstairs facing Bath lovely views.

“perfect and worth the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

we stayed at this hotel for my girlfriends birthday. we had 2 nights in the superior 4 poster room, which is separate from main building overlooking small lawn area.
on arrival(we were 45 mins early) we were met and taken into the lounge room offered tea or coffee and asked to fill out a quick form(2 mins).we sat in front of a lovely open fire. after a few mins we were taken to our room. this was very spacious with antique furniture a gorgeous 4 poster bed and perfect fully tiled bathroom suite with shower and jacuzzi bath with built in lcd tv to watch while relaxing in bath and molton brown products.
the room was immaculate and just perfect.we paid £100 a night but i feel as a birthday treat this was well worth the money.
the staff are courteous and helpfull, the hotel is gorgeous and our short stay perfect.parking was just outside hotel for us but very very quite dead end road so thats fine.breakfast was great with a vast variety of different types from fruit salads, cereals, jams and a fantastic cooked breakfast.my girlfriend had the fruit salad and cooked breakfast.i would say the walk to city centre is around 5 mins down hill.there is a pathway through so ask where that is otherwise it's along way round by road.biggest problem we had was tv remote in bathroom worked intermittently.i mention this more to show just how perfect the stay was as this was the only thing i could think of as a negative :) .
i think our stay was great and they deserve the rating i have given.i cannot fault anything. my girlfriend said on our way home to me that the hotel was perfect. that says it all i think.

Room Tip: please save a little bit more and take the superior four poster garden room,it really is perfect.we...

“Friendly comfortable and efficient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Paradise House is listed as a B&B but feels a bit more like a hotel with managers on site rather than the owner. Having said that the managers and staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was on the ground floor and enjoyed wonderful views across Bath which must be even better in the summer as the room had its own small terrace with seating. The bed was very comfortable and the room clean and bright. The room was also lovely and warm.

Breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice of cooked and/or continental food available and a lovely friendly waitress service. If you get to breakfast early you may be able to grab the table in the lounge that looks out across the city.

Bath centre is only a 5 minute walk away with all its historic sites and excellent variety of restaurants. The only achilles heel to Paradise House is possibly the very short but steep walk back up the hill which may be a struggle for some. However we would definitely return and recommend Paradise House to friends.

Tip: we got an excellent room rate by booking direct so worth checking.

Room Tip: Room 9 has a small outside seating area to enjoy the views

“Place was ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

I enjoyed the place and thought that the room was very nice with high ceilings and a nice bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub for two. Location was fine for use a short walk to the center. Great view of the city and we enjoyed the breakfast.

What I didn't like was the bed OMG i might as well have been sleeping on the floor it was that hard with no give at all. We had the twin room that faced the front of the house. The other thing I wasn't happy with was the internet. It didn't work in that room and the room is right on top of the router. I went down spoke with the male manager he told me it was the hotels fault it was a UK problem with to many people being online the time was almost midnight humm???

Other than those 2 things we enjoyed this place but wouldn't stay again as those 2 things are really important to me especially the bed. But hey if you like a rock hard bed you'll love these. Cant say there all like this just the twin room in the front.

We thank this guest for his thoughts and feedback. We’re pleased to hear that he enjoyed our views, convenient location and breakfasts. We are very sorry to learn, however, that he found the bed uncomfortable. Had this been brought to our attention during his stay, we would have done our best to make the bed softer by using an extra mattress topper, for example.

We would like to assure potential guests that all of our beds and mattresses are carefully sourced from leading bed manufacturer, Hypnos, the winner of the National Bed Federation's "BedManufacturer of the Year - 2011" award (www.hypnosbeds.com) and many of our guests comment favourably on how comfortable they are. Although bed firmness is a personal preference and it’s a challenge to find something to suit everyone, we would like to reassure you that our bespoke beds are of superior quality, tailoring and comfort.

With regards to our wireless internet connectivity, we were indeed having problems with it at the time. We explained that we believed it was not a problem with our router, rather our provider which could not cope with the high levels of usage, perhaps due to the Christmas period. As the guest rang the emergency bell at midnight and we close reception at 22.30 we looked into the problem in the morning but everything appeared to be fine again.

Despite this review, we had made plans already to get our internet hardwired through the building and have started work this January. This will hopefully eliminate any potential problems with wi-fi.

“A lovely stay in Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This was a beautiful B&B - the rooms were tastefully decorated and there was a lovely cosy fireplace in the main reception room, perfect for warming you up at this time of year! There was a fabulous view, both from the front room/garden and from our room - you could see out over Bath towards the Royal Crescent. Russell and Nicci were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. They were very knowledgeable about Bath and recommended some great restaurants (we particularly loved a local Nepalese restaurant with really tasty, authentic Nepalese cuisine). The breakfast at the Paradise House Hotel was delicious, I'd definitely recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled egg bagels. Oh and the bed was extremely comfortable! All in all, a wonderful stay. Thank you :-)
