Firstly we needed an hotel in Bath within walking distance of everything it has to offer but also so that we could look at properties for sale. The Halcyon was perfect - we walked to the Southgate shopping mall nearby (along with all other stores), viewed properties over a four day span and were able walk a few hundred yards to the Bath Station for our eight minute trip to Bradford-on-Avon. We dined literally around the corner at a Nepalese restaurant - highly recommended.Secondly, Hector and his team did everything they could to help. We were laden with luggage so they gave us the ground flooor studio room. You can park the car across the road in the Southgate secure car park at a daily rate of twelve pounds. They took the keys and parked it for us. There are short term parking bays on the street and as it is closed off carrying luggage in and out is no problem.
The service above does not stop at the above!!!! Every offer of assistance is given from recommended sightseeing, attractions, restaurants, where to shop etc. It is a personalised boutique hotel with personalised service. It also houses "Circa" which is the most popular bar in Bath - again stylish and very trendy. The rooms are modern, understated chic and have everything and more to make your stay enjoyable. A "mini kitchen" provides the usual fridge, tea/coffee making facilities etc but there is a sink, microwave, toaster, crockery and cutlery encased in an integrated cupboard. Drinks, confectionary and other nibbles are also available. Wi-fi and Sky TV are part and parcel of these well equipped amenities. Perhaps the best of all was the wonderful shower head with piping hot water followed by "The White Company's" toiletries!!!!!! My only suggestion to Hector as practical criticsm was that it took us a while to find which switches did what in terms of lighting, fans and electrical appliances - I suggested a map might be handy!!
The hotel was originally booked for three nights on a special package rate for this time of year of "3 for the price of 2". We found on arrival that we would need an extra night. There was no problem once again with both this and getting the same rate as the offer.
Finally, when in Bath there is non better than The Halcyon - we highly recommend it in every way and will return!!
Room Tip: We only saw the Studio on the ground floor which suited us for ease and convenience. The Halcyon ha...
