At the heart of the city centre, the location of Three Abbey Green was certainly what appealed to us when searching for a mid-week break, and we were not disappointed. The location, without a doubt, is on the doorstep of the shopping centre, restaurants, and only a stone’s throw away from the train station. The balance couldn’t have been more perfect, centrally located and yet, tucked away in the abbey square, which felt a million miles away from all the hustle and bustle. We stayed in Lilliput Court – one of the smaller rooms within the Abbey House - but it was a perfect size, immaculately clean and overlooked a small courtyard. This place is exactly how I envisaged Bath, and Three Abbey Green couldn’t have been in a better location and comfort.
Emma – our host – could not have been more informative of the location of particular shops & restaurants that we had researched prior to our booking; she was very warm and welcoming upon our arrival. She even gave us a map detailing local family-run tea rooms and eateries; it was great to feel such a sense of community. So that we could make the most of our time in Bath, Emma was happy to look after our belongings upon check-out whilst we continued to explore the city centre, she was also very accommodating to our early arrival, checking us in at 11.30am.
Breakfast was beautifully cooked, and served between eight and nine, perfect for us early birds! In the evening we ate at the spectacular Jamie Oliver’s Italian, the food was beautiful and the staff were very knowledgeable with regards to the food that was on offer. There is also a pub – the Crystal Palace – located across the street from Three Abbey Green, several surrounding tea rooms (Sally Lunns) and small local shops.
I would not hesitate to recommend Three Abbey Green to couples and families alike, the balance of location, room availability and affordability – whether small, suite or superior – and overall ambience has such varied appeal. We cannot wait to return at the end of the summer!
