“nice location - shame about the room size”

We were booked into this hotel as a promotion by Seasons for 4 nights. As per a previous review, we were in one of the tiny rooms on the top floor. A double bed had been squeezed into it, and you could just about walk around the bed! It really should have been a single room. The walls were very thin - we could hear the fan from the bathroom next door, and some of the conversations. There was a new en suite with an excellent shower.

The carpet throughout the stairs & landings was badly stained - a bad choice of fitting a light colour. The location of the hotel was excellent, overlooking the park & rugby club & about a 10 min walk to the attractions.

Unfortunately the weather was not so good, and the room was not comfortable to spend a long time in. The only place to sit was on the bed. So after 2 nights we were tired of bumping into each other all the time, and as no other rooms were available, we decided to leave and forego the other 2 nights. We understand that some refurbishment will take place shortly, but will not include making the top floor rooms any bigger. If we went again, we would ask for a first floor room at the back, as the traffic at the front could be heavy. We felt unwilling to use the lounge or conservatory, as there were always Seasons sales staff lurking waiting for a chance to pounce!

This hotel has so much potential and it is a pity it is not being maximised at present.

“Very Pleased”

On the spur of the moment my husband and I decided to take our four teenage children to Europe. Bath was one of the sites we wanted to see on our trip. When we got there we had no reservations so we just walked around looking for a place that could accommodate six people. The County Hotel was what we went with. It was a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. We got three rooms, all with great views. Also, the location was great as was the food and the ambiance.

True we did have to climb a number of stairs to our room but it was worth it and the children and my husband and I didn't mind in the least.

If ever we get another chance to take the whole family back to Bath, I would definitely try to get another booking at The County Hotel.

“Almost very good”

There are lots of good things about this hotel, but we may have been unlucky on a couple of things. We had a room right at the top. The person who greeted us bounded up the stairs to show us our room, and seemed very put out that we were slow lugging our heavy bags upstairs without help. There is no elevator. The room was pretty ordinary -- the location of the hotel very good. The worst thing was the lovely breakfast, which bossy notices insisted was only available for an hour after 8 on weekdays (too late if you had to work) and before 9.30 on weekends (too early if you wanted a lie in). You could have coffee later, but only if you told them by 9pm the night before. So don't stay here if you are not a compulsive planner. Friendly staff -- though apparently exasperated at breakfast time because everyone needed to be served at once (their fault, not ours). But there are many hotels in Bath that are far worse than this

“Nice but not a 5 Star . . .”

Hotel is lovely on approach but budget room which wasn't cheap was tiny . . hardly any room to put out anything in the bathroom and there were 3 clearly visible stains on the bedroom carpet. Bar area was dated and chairs a bit worn. Staff were lovely and very friendly however and the breakfast was gorgeous.
