Despite cold and dismal weather the whole Shrewsbury experience (what a great old town, enclosed by the river with a scarcity of 'chain' shops) was greatly enhanced by this accomodation. The place has a really great history and your host will probably take you on a tour of the highlights which is truly fascinating, and your host has researched a lot himself. It dates from Tudor times with many many original features. If you like hermetically sealed bedroom doors, flat floors and small modern minimalist rooms this is NOT for you. Most people however will find a spotless elegantly furnished room, with sloping original floors, original panelling, and view out towards the river as a great experience, only surpassed by the welcome at breakfast and the breakfast itself.
Parking nearby is not possible and in fact take great care when arriving because if you drive past it, the one way system will takes a very long time (because of the traffic) to get you back there. Paid for parking in the open at the bottom of the hill (10 mins walk) is the best bet and your host will take youthere.
All in all a great place to stay in a lovely town, and totally to be recommended
