LOCATION ... A three-minute walk takes you right into the heart of historic Shrewsbury with its cobbled streets and Tudor buildings, and to the main shopping streets.
CAR PARKING ... There are 12 private car-parking spaces, but it's double-parking. This means that, if you're blocking-in a fellow guest's car, you have to leave your car keys at Reception if you venture out on foot so your car can be moved, if necessary.
BREAKFAST ... A tasty English Breakfast, with nice lean bacon (I can't stand fat), served in a lovely Dining Room overlooking the rear garden.
VERY FRIENDLY WELCOME & SERVICE.
ACCOMMODATION ... We spent one night in the Superior Room (No 16) and a second night in a Twin (Room 12).
ROOM 16 is spacious with a double & single bed and a large bathroom with bath & shower.
ROOM 12 is a small twin-room with the smallest en-suite facility that I think we've ever come across. (The shower cubicle + toilet + wash-basin occupy a floor area that measures 54 inches x 54 inches). Should you be in a hurry, however, at least you can sit on the toilet and have a wash at the same time !!
ROOMS 12 & 16 are both at the front of the hotel facing St Julian Friars and neither room has double-glazing, so there is noise from the street late at night. Previous reviewers have commented about the noise from the pub next-door, but this was closed for refurbishment when we were staying at Abbots Mead last week. There's also an Indian take-away right opposite Abbots Mead which also attracts late-night noise.
