I booked this hotel as I only needed a quick stopover, checking in late at night and out early in the morning. My expectations were very low but I must admit, I was very pleasantly surprised.
Firstly, you arrive at the hotel which is behind the services. When you step out of the car your first thought is gonna be 'oh no' due to the proximity to the motorway and the associated noise.
Then you step into the small lobby of the hotel, it is very clean, bright and there was no queue when I arrived. There is a small fridge on the left which offers basic snacks and small soft drinks. The desk is very sparse but the service was very good, they had my key and paperwork waiting for me and it was less than a minute before I was on the way to room number 2.
On walking into the room, i was instantly aware of a smell of smoke, a smoker had stayed in this room and although the hotel is non-smoking, they had obviously had a cigarette but it wasn't too bad. The room itself is a reasopnable size and was very clean. The bathroom was also clean and had everything I needed for a night away from home.
The bed linen is spotless and the bed itself was surprisingly comfortable for such a cheap hotel, I ordered a continental breakfast for the morning at a cost of £4.95 (The fry-up was £7). Then settled down for the night, the TV isn't great but it had terrestial TV and a couple of news channels. The movies were extraordinarily expensive so didn't bother with them! (£12.95!).
There is no noise in the room, either from the motorway or the rooms above and beside. The room also had heating and black out curtains so made for a good sleep. Waking in the morning, I was given a fantastic breakfast with locally sourced organic produce, I ate better food there than in some 4 star hotels!
The shower was excellent, hot water straight away and the hotel reception had complimentary toiletries in case I had forgotten anything.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for a cheap overnight stay, it is very close to Sheffield and the Magna science centre.
