I stayed here while on business as it was very cheap - around £20-£30 per night and in the Centre of Sheffield. I have never tried this chain before and the other chain hotels were charging £80-£100 per night.
The hotel reception is clean and friendly and I was quickly processed and sent to my room. So far so good.
The room was basic, but given the price its was adequate. The bedding was clean, but the floors and surfaces were musty and not the cleanest. There was also a bad smell each morning coming from the sink!
However saying that, it was modern looking and the bathroom was quirky in that it was like a mini Tardis. Despite its shortcomings I was begining to feel comfortable and relaxed. There was a flat screen TV and spacious wardrobe with shelving. Internet was cheap for a hotel - €9 for 24 hours. So settle in for the night and had a cup of Tea from the inroom kettle...actually thats a lie....The tea bags they offer are vile..like drinking ash and dust, so I bought some from the local shop.
Woke up at 3am unable to move and completely numb...The bed can only be described as sleeping on an ironing board! Its spacious, dont get me wrong, but the matress bay as well be made of bricks!! I queried this with Abyss...I mean Ibis! and they confirmed that they will be replacing them this year. which is just as well.
I didnt stay for breakfast as they wanted £7.50min for what looked like a plastic meal from Macdonalds so I ate out at a proper cafe for £4.99 which I assume was better value for money.
This hotel is a very good budget hotel...would I stay again? Yes if they sort the matresses out. Its cheap and meets my basic needs if I am on a budget. This hotel also listens to comments unlike some pretentious or too busy to care hotels that I have stayed in.
I would put it on a par with Travelodge, but some Travelodges I have stayed in were a disgrace,so I would say that it trys harder and is often better than Travelodge.
Before I left, there was a cleaner liquid vacuuming my room. I was impressed at first, but the speed and lack of effort taken made me understand why the floors are still dirty after wards. Shame...but they are trying!
