We have just got back today from a wonderful night at the best western cutlers hotel. My partner and I originally booked a standard double room but were upgraded by the lovely lady on reception last night... I forget her name but she was blonde.

We had dinner in the bar and the steak and ale pie was just yummy as was breakfast. We were in Sheffield for an early valentines break and the location of the hotel was ideal right in the city centre!

We will definitely be returning!

I had the misfortune of staying in this city centre hotel recently. Lift out of order (still), place smelled of burnt cooking oil/fat, tiny room with a double bed shoe-horned into it leaving no room for anything else, one single disposable plastic beaker. Very noisy with both late-night revellers passing along the alley in which the hotel is situated and then early morning workmen rattling every conceivable empty bin from 0530 onwards. Breakfast was fairly dismal too with 3 places optimistically set for each small table. I asked for the use of an iron and board which was promptly delivered. Slight snag - the plate of the iron was literally hanging off. Staff were pleasant enough but the place is dismal.

The lift still doesnt work and the staff dont care. I was on the 4th floor so thats up 6 flights through the staff quarters and up the back stairs to my tiny garret room. If it had been more than one night I would have walked out. Breakfast is in the bar so three to a table is a squeeze. Tables are very limited so when the hotel is full be prepared to queue.

Central location is excellent.
Staff are great - friendly, polite and very helpful.
Beds are very comfortable.
Good breakfast.
Lift ... Not working but our rooms were located on the first floor so it wasn't a problem for us.
Very good value for money. Would stay again if I needed a based for a short stay in the City.
